When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing is an absolute classic. Reminds me of those awfully jubilant Golden Age Hollywood films like The Philadelphia Story, His Girl Friday & Bringing Up Baby, all to some extent. The third half of the song, especially, is something quite brilliant.

Maybe she'll release singles as often as Frank Ocean has started to, recently.

Honestly she should have used The Weeknd in one or two choruses and then proceed to have one all for herself.

I adore the very first lines of the song before the refrain kicks in. Such a wondrous melody/counter-melody symbiosis in tandem with a brilliant delivery from Lana. Haven't seen her cross this territory sonically, but I'm liking it thus far. Very invigorating and certainly more upbeat than Honeymoon.

SHE FUCKING NAILED IT

She could be going for minimalism? The cover details look sparse enough to imply minimalism conjecture. Anywho, it is Lana at the end of the day so she could be thinking of anything that's not even on the cards yet.

Honestly, are we not going to stress over the fact that we're possibly being prepared what could be an upbeat Lana album? I am all in for that.

I like how she used the older Lana font for the title of the album plus for her very name. Here's to a prodigious era.

Perhaps it's just that good chunks of people aren't used to this Lana. Same talk, but you've got a higher chance of getting recognition plunging in with an upbeat, percussive and titillating song than prancing around with a song about the same matter, but much slower and, inherently, more profound. Songs like Love oftentimes are put on by people just to find out what they do entail, and when after they listen even less than 10 times to said song, they simply circumvent it. Only the fanbase and a measly amount of people would parse the song and actually find meaning in it. It's just the way it works, with people choosing to jolt into dreamlike sequences with upbeat songs at the detriment of more organic ones because of escapism.

So nowadays if you're into older men & an artist and make a video about it you instantly have a replica of Lana's mantra with said older men? Please. That older man is totally hot & I wouldn't blame her in all honesty for feeling somewhat an attraction towards him.

Regardless, she's hit her all time low with this album. I honestly don't feel it at all and my feelings now set side by side with the feelings I've had at release are completely antithetical, I've almost forgotten about this album.

It's not always about how polished an album truly is, as one might have heartfelt feelings for the BTD/UV Lana purely due to her thematic/melody at the given time, and simply not consider her latest work on par with the foregone work. It's only natural, and I really can't fathom that the people in here unanimously turn down HM for its elements and intrinsic sound, it's just the matter that you've come across the ones that consider UV her best, who knows. Just because critics love something doesn't mean you're designated to only follow their preference and not have anything antithetical.

She's really declining in terms of commerciality, the numbers prove it straightforwardly. Compared to the other artists nowadays, it's rather pitiful seeing her numbers not that far off Marina's. As for the musical part, I feel as though she peaked during the UV era, whilst moderately declining come HM. BTD was perhaps a mess, but a beautiful, vibrant, delicate, fascinating, marvelous mess, and that, per se, was the pinnacle of her career(commercially), simply put. It's probably because of the catchy and playful melodies at the time, thereby granting relative ease to someone who'd want to stan her. I don't like the HM Lana at all, likely due to the redundancy and superficiality ingrained into the album, she seems incredibly lackadaisical if you'd ask me.

Call me ignorant or whatever's at your liking, but as soon as I saw the underwater scenes I skipped to see if there's anything else besides that. Nothing. Then I decided to close the video and move on.

She's not trying anymore, and it's relatively sad to see this attitude ingrained into her persona. The video felt so vapid, hollow, without proving any sort of cinematographic climax and whatnot we were expecting from an eleven minute video. Let's not bring into the equation the UV recycled footage that further solidifies my point, that's just preposterous and, I would have thought, rather inconceivable when she's used these elements before, as in I didn't expect them to make another appearance. Moreover, I'd say her live performances felt quite lackluster, she seemed so off whilst singing West Coast and VG, but that differs from each and everyone's viewpoint.

It's silly to degrade one's work the way you did. And also, the matter of "X could never" is straight up innapropriate, we're talking about two contrasting styles here. That's a hollow shade.

It irritates me when people say she'd make a great actress. Her monologues are quite exaggerated, I agree.

Oh, so now that the beloved hero of SWVIII is called Rey automatically translates to Lana being her fundamental inspiration? Let me guess, that's because their names are rather alike? Quite a pathetic and flawed logic.
