Manson 1,142 Posted April 28, 2018 I'm pretty sure she doesn't, but the thread title basically sums up a thought that comes to me from time to time. I really love Honeymoon and even though it's always more fascinating if an album doesn't get a lot of visuals and promotion to keep it super special and up to everyone's own fantasy, I've always found it heartbreaking to not hear most of the songs performed live.Is there any confirmed information or hints from Lana herself why Honeymoon has been treated the way it does? When people asked her to sing some songs from Honeymoon at the show she just replied with "Oh, that one..." and ignored it. Even the tiniest bits that we got, with her performing "High By The Beach", "Music To Watch Boys To", "Terrence Loves You" and "Freak" at some part during the different festival and tour sets, disappeared quickly.
ilovetati 15,299 Posted April 28, 2018 She said she recognizes it was a very personal vanity project so she doesn't play it live much.

cherryblossoms 10,420 Posted April 28, 2018 Lmao And what is a vanity project exactly?I think it basically means the label let her have free reign over the tracks and the sound of the album. There were no set expectations for the album to produce a charting single, to be somewhat radio friendly, etc.

There were no set expectations for the album to produce a charting single, to be somewhat radio friendly, etc. Makes sense, but how is that a reason NOT to perform the music? The only reason could be that she thinks that the music turned out shit, but I'm sure she doesn't think that.
softcore babyface 4,376 Posted April 28, 2018 no. I think she loves it honestly. I think honeymoon is like her baby ( I mean all of her albums are like that, but I think honeymoon especially), and that's why she chose to work with only two producers. I think all of her albums are like that besides BtD and LfL.
Dominikx4 25,413 Posted April 28, 2018 No she doesnt. She played HBTB, Salvatore, TLY, chose Honeymoon over Love etc.

Blue Rev 3,015 Posted April 28, 2018 Of course not It's probably her favourite She's said herself it was a vanity project and it's very personal to her, which might make it hard to sing the songs live. Also the songs seem to be harder to translate into a live setting because of their minimalism (MTWBT and HBTB aren't great live at all) 8 Quote i'm flying to the moon again, dreaming about heroin... Cherry on Top 395 Posted April 28, 2018 Maybe it is because she thinks people don't appreciate that album as much as the others. Like, I've always seen people on here slandering the true masterpiece Honeymoon is. I personally think she loves the album but wants to play it safely when it comes to her shows. It's a pity because I'd love to hear more of those songs played live. 9 Quote If you care about animals, please watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5hGQDLprA8

I think if she hated it she wouldn't have made an instagram for it. She worked really closely with Rick, Chuck, Neil, and even Francesco, who are/were all very close to her even outside of music and art. I think it's just personal.

Wasn't it that she hard time with her guy? Every time she feels blue in her life her hair has been darker and that was the case during HM era. And also she gained a little weight. So maybe there was heartbreak involved?
queenbitchpro 1,406 Posted April 28, 2018 Honeymoon doesn't follow her trademark sound. People don't get as hyped to hear her perform those songs as they do from the other records. She probably bases her setlist on what she thinks the fans want to hear, and she obviously knows that Honeymoon was her least recognized album and that the audience expects her more known songs. I think she loves the album and like others have said, it's very personal to her. When she performs TLY you can see how emotional she gets. I certainly don't think she's unhappy with that album. If she didn't like it, she wouldn't have released it.
lmdr 10,698 Posted April 28, 2018 I think it’s her favorite, she even said it live on this tour, but I don’t remember which date but she did

pawn shop blues 2,347 Posted April 28, 2018 I'm sure she loves it as much as her other records, if not more, but it's just harder to perform live. The songs are longer, slower, and require a lot of vocal support to be able to carry out the notes, since a lot of the phrases are really drawn out. It's also pretty heavy in reverb and atmosphere, which can require a lot of adjusting to get it to play right for a larger audience. Also, considering she started it right after Ultra, she was probably still in a dark place and maybe doesn't want to revisit that too much, especially if she's including Ultra songs on the setlist.
TROPICUM 6,407 Posted April 28, 2018 lol no. I’m sure she loves it! It’s her most personal record to date. It wasn’t exactly made for the public but for her, that’s why she called it a ‘vanity project’. + as lmdr said, in some show of the tour she said it was her favorite. 2 Quote ???, ?????????
