Little Known/Obscure Music We Don't Talk About Enough

Recommended Posts

Sooooo I wanted to talk about some weird artists, low key artists, stuff nobody really knows much about. I have some music I really like I wanted to share in a thread that I keep finding randomly and I thought this could be a cool thread to share things like this here. They can be newer, underground artists, they could be old 70s musicians that are obscure. I'll start

both of these i wouldn't say are completely hole in the wall but are probably obscure to most western audiences

a. Pizzicato Five - probably my favorite group ever :oprah: - I also created a thread for them that is essentially dead - dance pop with some jazz influences

Spoiler

b. Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her - pretty much standard late 90's / early 00's indie

Spoiler

(this mv is a bit misleading cause all of the band members are japanese :toofloppy:)

edit: c. Takako Minekawa - i don't really know how to describe her music it's all over the place

Spoiler

I introduced @stupidapartmentcomplex to this gorl and his life has never been the same but she’s honestly wonderful and life changing and she makes me cry and laugh and sing and dance and frolic around my kitchen, go figure she’s another SoCal kween

And a good friend of hers (speculation from the research I’ve done) also makes beautiful, gorgeous, unique, moving, sultry music. I’ve been listening to Hate My Face a lot recently - giving Latina Mazzy Star and I’m here for it

A more upbeat one for the thrussy gorls:

Happy Birthday to The Downward Spiral by NIN, But the album I came into this thread to discuss is Kollaps:

Which to me is an underrated classic, Truly like “the original dws?” Not saying Trent ripped it off or anything. But to me these two albums are linked. I really love it!

Not even my alternative loving friends don't listen to this band. It's also very similar to Lana and obviously inspired by her. I'm not sure if they belong in the obscure category but I only know one person who listens to them.

Stream everything by The Marias

I love every single song they release since they have a similar vibe.

I'm fucking crazy, but I'm free
