To be honest, I think the only thing that gets A+ from me (but again, who am I to judge the entire song - a nobody) in this song is her vocal performance. Her vocals get stronger with each album.

let me not start on her vocals... she has a gorgeous head voice that she has been OVERUSING, girl you can't have one vocal technique/style for the rest of her career, you need to balance it out, i miss her strong deep low voice. keep the operatic falsetto for like a bridge or for your ballads...

Idk how you can’t hear similarities? The melodies in particular remind me of froot (album not song). I also said post Electra Heart because I think Froot is when Marina started adopting a bit more of a mainstream pop sound even if it was higher quality than the last two albums.

Idk, at least to me, most of FROOT’s melodies are really catchy, and even when they’re not, they’re at least backed up by interesting vocal and/or production choices.

 

It’s been 30 minutes since I listened to it, and I can’t remember Butterfly’s verse melody for the life of me. It feels really boring, and there’s nothing to make up for it - the lyricism feels meh, the production is overly generic

Marina wants to suceed and be seen as ambitious and talented - she creates TFJ.

TFJ doesn't give her international success so she creates intellectual pop - she creates EH.

The critics hate EH and see her as a sellout - so she creates FROOT.

FROOT is well received by everyone so she doesn't know what to do - so she creates L+F.

Fans hate L+F because it's too simple and too boring sounding - so she creates ADIAML.

ADIAML is fairly well received - so she.......
