people on tiktok just have this idea that she was going through a horribly rough time during the lizzy grant days, like she was addicted to drugs, a prostitute, anorexic, etc. even though there's no evidence for any of that... she's acknowledged that era many times, with sentiment, even doing so to promote white dress, so if it was really such a horrible time, why would she acknowledge it? if we weren't allowed to listen to music from a certain artist because they were going through a hard time while creating it, we would hardly have any music to listen to

Red flag of mine I guess is that I don't have an issue with the coquette lana fans. Its the ones that are really young who take everything at face value and tend to be most problematic. The older ones I've interacted with actually can be pretty sweet and nice and are generally more mature and understanding. I was friends with one girl but IDK where she went :(

Most pessimistic post of 2023 so far goes to you! Wow. “Boarding School” is very serious & dear to Lana hence the Facebook posts talking about it with one of her friends she actually went to school with & how joyous she was when she performed it live. AKA is undoubtedly on her top 3 best albums list & we wouldn’t even have the Lana we know today without it. Everyone comes from somewhere & the record is a beautiful representation of the life she lived before becoming famous. So what she lived an indulgent life, battled addiction, & experienced tremendous heartbreak…. she still managed to find the silver lining in her circumstance & have fun. It’s really weird to consider loving, appreciating, & even relating to a young girl having a dark story and turning it into something beautiful. Yikes.

Didn’t he steal her computer with the 2nd poetry book on it? :awk:

The way he was lunging at her when she was leaving church was actually terrifying!

wowow i had no idea this would be taken that way. i relate a lot and love that album… no hard feelings:(

? AKA is no where near my favorite album but you just completely made that up :horror:

How in any way was this a hard time for her mentally... :horror:

She just got a budget to make her dream album, was able to work with David Kahne, was able to use her money from the contract to buy a trailer, before/after that she was living with her sister, was able to make her own shoes with Keds, was doing loads of interviews... quite literally the start of her independence & the time she was enjoying her freedom most, she has mentioned before that this was a special time for her...

If there was any era that would have been hard for her mentally it would have been that period between getting sent to boarding school and right after that when she wasn't allowed to go home and was living with her aunt, another "hard time" would have been in 2010 when she was living on Ben's couch looking for someone to sign her but even then she said she was having fun?

Red Flag #1: being a false empath

i’m sorry, i was rushing when posting and my typing was all messed up. what i truly really meant was the boarding school part. i was trying to say that people take the words shes saying as serious, that she truly believes people should do those things. i was using the album aka when i truly meant the boarding school times. my apologies

REAL red flags

- fans who think insiders + leakers are the most reliable sources (even when they're getting trolled to high heavens)
- fans who think that BTD / ultraviolence was her peak and miss "the old lana" (as if she ever left :smh:)
- fans who don't know how to research
- fans who think the fake edits are good / encourage the fake edits / think the fake edits are real
- fans who don't see the (what should be) obvious satirical / rhetorical elements in her work (kinda like how a&w is making fun of the "old lana" fans or how PMIAM is not a pro-grooming song)
- fans who think everything she's done is absolutely perfect and that she has not done a single bad thing in her life (*looks at the QFTC defenders*)
- fans who dismiss jack for no good reason
- fans who dismiss drew for no good reason
- fans who speak for lana as if they know her personally
- fans who intentionally start shit to prove a point

Hard agree with all of this but I don't necessarily think that the second half of A&W is satire about "old Lana" fans. :um2:

I think she's allowed to make fun music for the sake of making fun music without there needing to be some deeper meaning. But then again, everything is up to personal interpretation. :lolliney:

Tbh I think one of the biggest red flags on this website are people who think their personal opinions and interpretations about her music are objective facts. If you prefer A&W to her entire discography then that's fine, if you don't think it holds a candle to her last few albums then that's fine too. (This paragraph's not directed at you, just at *certain* members of this site who can't seem to understand that and cause endless arguments :pout:)

I don't like the connotation in OP that if Lana does something in the vein of her older style, then she's somehow satirising or making fun of the fans who enjoyed it. :horror:

I live for the visions I can't see.

Big red flag: anyone who responds to a fan experiencing the once in a lifetime moment of meeting Lana in a store or on the street, by complaining that they spent 90 seconds enjoying a fun chat with their idol, rather than forcing Lana to sit down for an hour an answer endless questions about her work, life and upcoming release

precisely, there would be whole artists that we couldn’t listen to bc essentially all their music came out of hard times (amy winehouse, kurt cobain, etc.)
