2024 US Presidential Election - Kamala Harris/Tim Walz vs. Donald Trump/JD Vance

It’s still tight. The Iowa poll is a shocker, but also not completely surprising. The sad thing is, there are still a lot of tossup states. But if Iowa is close or even Texas… Demographics are slowly shifting. I really doubt she makes Texas close, but she could eek out Iowa.  
 

I think in order of most likely outcomes, it’s 

1. Slight Harris victory

2. Slight Trump victory

3. Harris landslide

 

Multiple data points suggest Kamala wins in a landslide, but I’m really being cautiously pessimistic. Trump has been an anomaly in elections and polling over the past 8-9 years. It’s hard to gauge. But it is hard to deny that many high level republicans are throwing support behind the democrat. That should be a signal by itself.

I did not just see one of y’all complain that a transgender minor member here is being “so dramatic” for worrying that they may potentially lose access to gender affirming healthcare (which is a very really “policy” Trump is running on)

tbh in that sort of situation, the Republicans would want the litigation as short as possible since everyone knows the Supreme Court basically does the will of the Republican Party now.

in theory the supreme court could use the shadow docket to issue an emergency ruling that changes a state's election result to one that favors trump. and you're right that the supreme court has increasingly abused their super-majority to blatantly implement the conservative agenda on a federal level.

but also the supreme court is more and more conscious of public perception of their appearance right now than ever and i think this is going to be what restrains them from implementing a full-on coup via the shadow docket. like if the case republicans bring to the court is so weak that it's incredibly obvious that the 6 conservatives justices are just overthrowing the will of the people... i don't think the american people will just stand aside and let this happen. and that's something the conservative justices are increasingly aware of ever since dobbs.

also democrats undoubtedly have some kind of contingency plan for republicans' legal challenges, potentially one that uses the president's new powers of prosecutorial immunity, so i think we will likely be hearing about the election results well into december depending on how slim the margins are.

ah. well, here it goes:

First, I was going to vote for Claudia de la Cruz, the candidate for the Party for Socialism and Liberation. But they got kicked off the ballot by Democrats.

Then, I was going to vote Jill Stein, the candidate for the Green Party, but then her VP turned out to be transphobic and anti-abortion.

So now I'm going to vote Kamala Harris and hate myself a fuckton.
