Lana Del Rey Has Songs Ready for Country Album but Doesn't Want It to Be 'Half-Cooked': 'We'll Get There'

honestly i dont know why she's never truly experimented with other type of releases like EPs (debut EP and tropico don't even count since they were basically singles from the albums... and paradise was basically a whole new album lol)

her EP would still probably be around 25 minutes which is sometimes the length of some artists' whole albums :toofloppy: and you can still release them on cute vinyls and use the tracks in future releases if they somehow turn into a part of whole album! and if you get bored of them you can just move on to next main project...

this way she could sometimes release shorter but really cohesive and strong projects instead of frankensteining old material into new to form a one hour LP

That is true. Paradise coulda been an album, and BB coulda been an EP (or even two). With all the recycled material on it, it's kinda annoying that it was packaged as a full album when only half of it was new material.

She could have also released several EPs with her popular unreleased tracks, like Serial Killer. No doubt another SYTH situation streaming wise.

But, then, she's the artist, it's her vision, and if she wants to call it an album, or EP or whatever - it really is her choice alone.

I'm honestly tired of how long it takes artists to release new records today. Look at old famous artist from the 50s-70s. People like The Beatles or Elvis were releasing full albums every year, occasionally multiple per year. Why is it now taking so long for everyone? Taylor Swift is doing it, so why can the other big pop artists not keep up?

without the re-releases, Taylor's cycle would only be two years too

and artists don't have as much time when they're touring on the side (that's why there were more Lana albums during Covid times)

I think it used to be easier to create new music in the 50s and 60s because nowadays there are a lot more artists and it's harder to find new good song ideas

But what does stripped back MEAN

I don’t think it’ll be quite Kintsugi instrumental but realistically Americana theme + stripped back = Narwhal. I personally love that song but know a lot of people hate it oop. The chemtrails truthers will stay winning this era I can feel it :angie:

I don't like EPs honestly, they feel incomplete to me

I am so happy that she's taking her time with this album. I'm still not over Ocean Blvd myself and like the more time she takes with the album the more better it will be, and it's so reassuring that she recognizes if the album is gonna be half-assed or not. I just know LDR10 or if it's still called Lasso will be special

Well , hold on. She did say for Vogue she'll drop two more songs.

Who knows, maybe after the election drama is over, she might feel more light and decide to drop a little taste.

Or maybe she'll drop another random single/collabs.

I totally get why many are disappointed. But then, OB did only come out last year.

Better a good record with a bit of a wait, then a mediocre one like BB (sorry, BB fans)

Here’s my delulu theory: there was a shift around January or February this year. Before this, she seemed to have some stripped-back, country/Americana songs ready—subdued, simpler tracks. “Henry” might be one of these. But after the shift, possibly triggered by the Grammy snub, her perspective changed. I’m holding out hope that this is where “Has Anyone Else Died For You?” came to life. The Fenway intro could also reflect this shift, with its southern gothic tone fitting the new direction. If she’s writing about being “crucified” so others can succeed, it suggests something more layered than the “simpler, Americana songs” she mentioned last year. It’s likely she now has a mix of tracks that don’t yet form a cohesive album, and she’s still working through the creative process.

Bb is iconic I love it unconditionally :paris:

but honestly gimme another unreleased album Lust for life b side’s preferably plus ITTJ and scrap lasso at this point

lasso i consider nothing but annoying, i just want to be proven wrong that it’s worth waiting for but nothing so far indicates it is, she literally describes it as half-cooked :eyes:

also the 2 singles.. I mean @barttttender c’mon :smile2:
