"Young & Beautiful" - Lead single from The Great Gatsby Soundtrack, OUT NOW!

Recommended Posts

Not everything works. Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful" is meant to be one of the album's centerpieces; instead, it's inert, a drag.

This is from the review of the album by Rolling Stone, the gave it 3.5 stars. They hate Lana so much ugh, it makes me so upset.

Such a bullshit magazine. They've written that "Del Rey is far from a great singer" but have praised Taylor Swift's vocals?????

and they wrote "Queen B herself teams with André 3000 for a moodily downtempo version of Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."" Anyone over the age of 15 that writes 'Queen B' about Beyoncé is clearly delusional and they actually thought her cover was good? They made a song about heartbreak sound like the soundtrack to cheap porn :crossed:

Blasphemy  :lanasrs:

For me they are one of the most important critics but they really mess up big sometimes, like giving Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded a 4 stars review and well obviously with all the Lana hate...

They make their reviews kinda mean, and that cover of Back To Black is just a mess to me, so many things going on and the only part that i like is Beyonce's vocals but everything else is too much.

They should go to some of the Lana concerts to see how good her vocals sound, she has got a looot better and a lot confident too

Can I just say that I finally put Young & Beautiful in my Paradise playlist today and it was FLAWLESS. :legend: I feel like it perfectly ties together the Paradise era and now I kinda wish it would have just been released back in November with Young and Beautiful and Burning Desire to make the perfect 10 track album.

So, apparently, she wrote it for the film.  :pft:

Or apparently they just made it to look like its for the movie. Why woud she said in radio that this would be one of the songs for Paradise and even sang it ?...  But honestly I wouldnt make a big deal of it. I think they just chose this song for their movie so she wrote it for the movie then. dot.  :teehee:

She probably changed some lyrics to fit the movie better.

Like the first verse, totally goes with Gatsby if you saw that new trailer.

Yeah, and the alternative snippet that leaked with 'channeling Joplin, Jimmy Page now' kind of further suggests this. (They were probably the original paradise lyrics.) Also, in the clip, when Baz is talking directly to Lana on the skypecall he says 'I'm glad this song found its way to the film.' which kind of further implies this...

I used to believe Rolling Stone is da shit, but c'mon that review you read is just an opinion of one ''expert'' who seats in his office and thinks he knows everything.

and personally I will never forget their 100 greatest singer list. Michael Jackson is #25 while John Lennon is #5 and Bob Dylan #7! And don't get me wrong they are great singers, but THAT better voices than MJ? Not realistic.

I think Mj was a great innovative performer, but there are plenty of better singers.

I didn't say he was(in my opinion he is - true artist / whole package), I was talking about his unfair ranking in that stupid Rolling Stone list.

Well you were talking about a VOICE  :deadbanana:
