It's happened with almost all her albums, and I'd argue TTPD is at least in the top 5 of her discography, if not top 3. I think people will be able to appreciate the unhinged-ness and more inaccessible lyrics and melodies once the over-saturation of Taylor has died down a bit. The way reviews ranged from calling it boring watered-down pop that all sounds the same to an incoherent weird mess, show me people were not giving it a fair chance when it came out. I don't think it was an album that was written to be a hit, and I think what she said about it being an album she needed to write was so true and it really comes across throughout the record, and I feel like this record is the most "real" Taylor has ever been. It's such an interesting glimpse into her psyche and shows that she isn't scared to show herself in a really unflattering way. I hate that it's been overlooked due to the overall tiredness around Taylor herself and I think if it had been released before Midnights people would have loved it. I agree. personally, only 6 months later and I like and listen to a lot of the songs I initially didn't really care for
Lana Del Dufrene 11,190 Posted September 18 Will forever be bitter she didnt just do Tortured Poets as a single album with these tracks as a 2am edition 1. The Black Dog 2. The Albatross 3. The Bolter 4. The Prophecy (with more umphed up drums) 5. The Manuscript I wouldn't scrap the anthology just wait till fall or the winter and replace these songs (and thank u amiee) with new songs.

Every time I see someone post hate for TTPD, they almost always say “it could’ve been a 10/10 if it weren’t for the anthology.” It reminds me of BTD and Paradise- they’re two separate albums and deserve to be treated as such. I think the biggest reason why many people aren’t big fans of TTPD is because of the anthology which is separate from the standard album as you said x 2 Quote ⊹˚⋆ 𝒃𝒂𝒃𝒚𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 ‧₊°

Also thinking about it more, The Anthology should've just been an EP released on September 13th. 1. imgonnagetyouback 2. Chloe Or Sam Or Sophia Or Marcus 3. How Did It End? 4. Bluelake 2,892 Posted September 23 One of the best things about having a favorite album of an artists discography is that, whether it’s popular or not, the unique reasons it resonates with you are what make it special. For me, it’s folklore.
jimmyjimmycocoapuff 5,891 Posted September 27 no one wants this but I hope she re-releases the Holiday Collection someday- it's kinda cute and "Christmases When You Were Mine" is so underrated, imagine it with better vocals she should drop it this year just for a little treat 2 Quote "if you're not happy, then it's not the ending..." I think the biggest reason why many people aren’t big fans of TTPD is because of the anthology which is separate from the standard album as you said x really? i feel like The Anthology is much better than the standard album; usually the hate i see on TTPD is either because of a few sloppy/bad lyrics or the boring synth production from Jack, but The Anthology has both better production AND lyrics i saw someone say that the standard album just felt like a lot of filler and demos that Taylor tried to put together, and I honestly agree; having just one album with the best from both the standard and the anthology would've had much better reception but I understand that she was trying to get the most material she could out with the "double" album for hype and sales 0 Quote the earth shattered, the sky opened that rain was fire, but we were wooden
ivory almond 16,125 Posted September 28 i feel like something similar to this could've gotten much better reception and done equally as successful as the double albums, and instead of doing like 4 variants with one bonus track from the double album that's only available on streaming, she could've done like 3 regular variants for the standard + a vinyl for the 2am deluxe THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT 1. rosemead ramada 6,731 Posted October 2 Since 9/13 didn't end up happening I've kinda forgotten all about Rep TV... anyone else? It'll come when it comes I'd still prefer for Debut TV to come first, though. And Dec 13 is still absolutely perfect for it, and then Rep TV next year.
