Deleted User 1,353 Posted October 28, 2014 It was never a commercial"izable" album to begin with. Although it's got some really good songs and good vibe, I feel it was determined to be unsuccessful (and it isn't nowhere near as public appealing as Born to Die). Plus the videos released up to now, and the song choices for the singles, were poor. Repetitive, nothing new, nothing fresh... The whole thing was mis-handled.
NamiraWilhelm 5,044 Posted October 28, 2014 Did Ultraviolence get released as a single in the end? I have not kept up at all Tbh I'm still kinda bummed paradise didn't get more love, another single at least. Still the best thing she's ever done IMO
Spac3gypsy 72 Posted October 28, 2014 Lol she def hasn't given up on it... Idk where all you people are getting that from. She will tour next year and I'm sure we will at least get another new video this year. Just as a comparison... Katy Perry takes FOREVER to realease new vids. I'm actually really suprised we got three new vids and a tour this year. We are lucky considering how mopey Lana can get

Still the best thing she's ever done IMO We all know she wanted Cola to be a single but her record company was being a bitch thinking it would be too controversial. Of course controversy is what sells but Interscope is too dumb to see that. Cola still managed to have quite an impact especially on many teenage tumblr cunts. It still could've been so much more, the same goes for Gods & Monsters, which in my opinion was a really strong contender for a single release. I think the problem with this era is that instead of focussing on promotion for this album she was forced to finish the previous tour and it dragged on for too long so she really didn't get a chance at doing TV performances and all of that shit. It's sad, because you know it could've been quite a commercial success if they paid more attention to timing (single releases) and releasing the right singles too. I mean, Brooklyn Baby could've been the perfect summer single and I'm 100% sure it would've charted really well if Lana did one or two live performances.

plush 656 Posted October 28, 2014 Lana's music is a world of hidden gems, and I'm fine with UV being one of them. In a hundred years time when Lana's official discography surpasses her unreleased discography, we'll be able to look back at Ultraviolence, and be like: "God, that was a fucking solid album". It'll be that single masterpiece in all our record collections. That's so gay but I agree

toshi 948 Posted October 28, 2014 It's clear that this era is suffering without the financial and artistry support from her label. I've not thought about that actually but maybe the label won't support this campaign to the extent the supported BTD. Lets be honest this album is hardly commercial at all, and the label probably isn't too happy about that. There is definatley something going on between her and the label, either she is refusing to do what they ask, maybe promo on television, live interviews etc, so they won't support her with money etc, or they just don't support an album which is not commercial enough. It wouldn't surprise me if Lana just turned around and said I won't release anything If I can't release this, so they went ahead and let her release it with it being better than nothing. Just my two cents.

Just my two cents. It always depends on how you sell it. You can't say an album is not commercial when music and especially people's taste in music changes constantly. If Lana would get as much exposure (especially airplay) as Katy does she'd be slaying the charts like there's no tomorrow. There's a lot of songs on this album that are well-marketable and catchy. Brooklyn Baby, Florida Kilos, Black Beauty, Money Power Glory, FMWUTTT (except for it's lyrical content) all have melodies that are quite easy to sing along to and the production really isn't too experimental lol. It's not like something like that hasn't been played on the radio before. At least not where I live...(Lana used to be on the radio all the time here in Germany) Everyone's going vintage/hipster these days and Lana could have been the driving force of this movement. Actually, nevermind she already had a major impact on that scene...it's undeniable.
leaked_version 10,499 Posted October 29, 2014 Well, in that one interview she gave, she said she was "tempted to say yes" to some things. Then a few weeks later she uploaded that picture "Film" so maybe she was over this album when it came out. Maybe she just wanted to release it after all the fuckery that went down before it came out, the cut budget, the dispute with the label and just head off to new things. Maybe she will really be in a movie or something like that, maybe porn.
Viva 3,170 Posted October 29, 2014 Maybe all you guy's are writing is true, or maybe Lana is just that lazy. Maybe is quite simple, she doesn't want to tour, doesn't give 2 fucks about giving interviews, promoting the album because she doesn't give 2 fucks and doesn't want to get out of the bed before 2PM. Maybe in her thirsty for fame she forgot to take in count you actually have to work for the fame work, and lana is to lazy to work that fame. At this moment she is chewing some pasta and watching Keeping Up With The Katarshians with her cell on mute. Do not disturb
hcmm91 2 Posted October 29, 2014 Considering how busy she's been with touring and with the initial release of the album (and having re-recorded most of it earlier this year with Dan Auerbach), it's not surprising that not much else has come from it yet. I think we just need to give it some time. So far we already have videos for "Ultraviolence" and "Shades of Cool," I'm sure others will eventually come along. I agree. I really am hoping that we will see more videos from her and possibly a tour later on.
