Recommended Posts

has anyone ever watched the movie good boy (2022)? it's a norwegian movie and I really wanna watch it because the storyline seems different and interesting but the imdb score (6,7) is making me have doubts lol

Oh this is my type of thread, i'm a huge horror fanatic.

My all time favourite is the texas chainsaw massacre series, i love them all except the 3D one and the netflix version :wtf:

I double featured yesterday with The First Omen/Abigail and they were both excellent. The First Omen really surprised me. I had little excitement for it but walked out in awe. A brilliant slow burn that is genuinely unsettling and excels in all areas. The homage to the subway scene in Possession (1981) was the cherry on the cake. Abigail was a blast from start to finish -- campy vampire flicks are finally back!

Has anyone ever watched creep? It's more thriller, but no one ever talks abt it

Lets discuss this,

so who else here cannot stand gorey movies when compared to creepy supernatural movies that involve ghosts and demons. I honestly am so impressed with the recent horror movies that have been coming out; as they no longer focus on the gore and focus on the actual story and plot rather than shock value. I also feel like supernatural horror movies are more relate able because everyone has heard that creepy noise in their house when they were alone and got a little creeped out.

For example, The Others was a great horror movie, with a strong plot.

I thought Insidious and the Conjuring were very good too, and had a very strong plot. They are def. on the right track with horror movies.

With that being said, what are some actually creepy horror movies?

My picks:

Super creepy and genuinely scary:

Hereditary

Oddity (2014)

Late Night with the Devil (2014)

Rec. (crappy ending though)

Don't Breathe

All-time Favs:

Psycho

The Birds

Misery

The Exorcist

The Others (Hitchcock would have loved Kidman)

Unbeatable American Classics:

Nightmare on Elm Street

Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors

Wes Craven's New Nightmare

The Blair Witch Project

Evil Dead I and II

Friday the 13th

Scream I and especially II (also loved VI)

(Side note: the best three of the Nightmare series are incidentally all the ones starring Heather Langenkamp)

Criminally Underrated:

Jeepers Creepers I

Upgrade (more thriller)

Abigail (2024)

Great but not really horror (or scary):

Get Out

Us

The Witch

Fresh (2022)

Criminally Overrated:

Barbarian (pure nonsense)

Longlegs

Paranormal Activity (a joke)

Candyman

Have you seen Hunting the Legend (2014) or The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972)? Coincidentally both about bigfoot. I remember watching the former when I was 13-14 and couldn’t watch the ending bc of how scared I was :rip: Never watched it since so I can’t guarantee its quality lol. But The Legend of Boggy Creek is one of my favorite movies of all time. Such a nostalgic and atmospheric pseudo-documentary.

What about Trollhunter (2010)? Another fav of mine.
