Realized today if you take the lyrics to Break the Rules more metaphorically and not literally they aren't as bad. They are kind of punk. Like she's singing about her attitude and not actually as if she's in high school. But I don't know.They are still bad hahaha. but maybe so bad they are genius in a way, like Charli says about this and I Love It, which lyrically was also kind of rubbish but shouty and amazing.

 

edit: on another note though, do you guys think it's possible she could be being forced by her label to pursue this new direction because as a record label they want to sell records? Didn't something like this happen with Kesha as one example, where she said she liked the music she was doing but really she was forced to work with Doctor Luke all the time and make trash pop? And of course Lady Gaga had major record label issues.

 

But if that is the case, of course Charli would still defend her work, it just makes sense. So there's no way to really know. But I don't even know how possible that is, just something I pondered.

I spend hours every week trying to track down both '14' and all the other songs she has done, with very little luck. It's like Lana, but Charli was even younger when she got started. But hey, the Mixtape and eventual album are gonna he great! She's like the Sky that never was.

I always think this, like I totally feel like her label is forcing her to make songs like BTR just because they know when she makes songs like Fancy and I Love It and Boom Clap that they will sell. But at the same time, Charli is always talking about how she doesnt really like the music industry and she wouldnt do things they forced her to do.... It all just doesnt make sense to me. It really doesnt seem likely that SHE thinks this record, or BTR, is the 'best music shes ever made.' Idk. Thats just what I think... not trying to trash BTR or anything. I realllllyyy need to hear all of Sucker im DYING HERE i cant wait until the end of October

Yeah I could see Sucker being the best music she's ever made considering I haven't heard most of it, but if she really thinks Breal the rules is some of the best music she's ever made, she is kidding herself. On an objective level that song is far more boring and less evocative of any emotion than almost everything else she's released. I just refuse to believe someone as talented as she is doesn't realize that.

 

It's obvious that song, whether of her choosing or her label's, was created with being a hit single in mind. Nothing on her first album felt that contrived even though she had some killer pop hooks.

So guys this is my new favorite Charli picture.. I really hope there's a whole set. The white dress and wings and the red background.. Not only does she look so hot and her hair is amazing, but this is just a really cool photoshoot.

 

 

Also, I almost forgot that even though Sucker doesn't come out for over a month, she will be touring soon and probably playing a bunch of new songs! (which is why I honestly wish she would've just released the album before touring but whatever)
