TrashMagiq 58,949 Posted June 24 The chances of the final version of Good Thing Going On being on this are probs very small but I'm still hoping !

I'm not gonna bitch tooo much. Being lucky to get something released is a blessing in some regards, but at the same time, I have a little side-eye. Spoiler Straight to the point - she's gone, so....who benefits? Obviously the fans with the release, BUT....there's a label and several other people profiting after someone's passing.... Posthumous releases always leave me feeling a little weird. 3 Quote 🎶 Art decorates space, but music decorates time 🎶
DinahLee 6,256 Posted June 24 I don't think too much about this being a "posthumous" release because it's being worked by people really close to SOPHIE and clearly aware of SOPHIE's wishes. Like... I don't think the label + brother would just slow down Reason Why for no goddamn reason nn, unless Kim Petras &/or BC Kingdom requested so they could re-record. We also know many of these songs were played in higher tempo (same case as Sunscreen) so it just makes sense that SOPHIE had the final product a little different from what we heard before.
blameitonme 15,680 Posted June 24 i’m so happy there’s an album coming out but god it just feels so weird feels like 5 mins ago i was seeing her in concert now her post-humous album is out wtffff i hate this reality but lemme dance to reason why real quick brb!
DD 522 Posted June 24 first I’m really happy reason why is released like it’s surreal having new SOPHIE on streaming A lot of the songs played live were sped up to bpm match when mixing (dj’ing) and to keep energy up. But a slow song doesn’t mean it’s bad, just need to get used to the tempo of it which is easy but the mixing is genuinely pretty shocking, the bass synth starts of too loud then just get turned down instantly and I’m guessing reverbed ?? Whoever did the mix shouldn't do anymore of it because they are clearly not qualified

Prior to her passing, SOPHIE's brother Ben was her Audio Engineer. Meaning he mastered all of her songs before their subsequent release anyways. He is the one overseeing everything from this point on, and no one better to do it imo. It's still the Xeon legacy.

I get all that, but it still doesn't change my feelings all that much. As long as it's done with love and respect it's all good at the end of the day. 1 Quote 🎶 Art decorates space, but music decorates time 🎶

details 17,435 Posted June 25 i'm confused about this "sped up/slowed" discourse, wasn't reason why on the exact same tempo when it leaked? also, i thought it was a known fact sophie changed songs bpm on sets (as does every dj tbh), it happens with pretty much every sophie produced song that gets released after being played live, y'all should be used to it by now lol

Im still happy but a little concerned about this fact tho ngl
