This happens with all fanbases, but with Lana's in particular I've noticed that people feel as though they know her personally to a point of discomfort. Some of these people see her like she's fictional, which is so fucked up. Lana is a person just like all of us are and deserves the same amount of privacy and respect as anyone else.
