Right, after post release is always the time when people are still settling in on the album and this album definitely is one that I think a lot of people will have to take their time with. But personally I think it flows perfectly.

I don't think bops coming after ballads is really an issue, I think switching it up can help keep things interesting and adds dynamics to albums. Brooklyn Baby for example is a ballad yet it flows perfectly after Shades of Cool and before West Coast, I actually think it elevates all three songs because they hit so hard after each other  Thats also how I feel about each BB song, they all compliment each other

i don’t get how this album could be deemed incohesive tbh, like i get that it has weird parts and parts that catch you off guard but to me it feels like such a beautiful singular piece of art much like UV, HM, any of her greatest albums

but i also think that chemtrails is a nonsensical mess ( this isn’t the chemtrails thread so i won’t go on), so there is something that probably partially destroys the relevance of my bb opinions .. take my words with a grain of salt always girls

i haven’t read any of the posts in here yet or planned to write one of my own, but someday maybe i will

I made a concept of pop/pop rock/indie pop album. Album is transition between AKA and Born To die, shortly after changing nickname from Lizzy/Del Ray to Lana del Rey. It's more pop-ier than other Lana's albums. I made 2 versions of cover and backcover cause I can't decide which is better.

i feel like artists who've actually been around throughout the 2010's & have remained very successful & influential would've been more fitting choices, such as lady gaga, beyonce, selena gomez, & taylor swift, i know those are really big names in the industry, but it's a lot more accurate if they're trying to celebrate artists who were successful & impactful during the 2010's instead of artists who debuted when the decade was ending, but we all know how award shows are

i havent thought about this at all so here are my manifestations

either A) she delivers the country album with nikki lane and gets it out of her system – lb will go up in flames, someone might attempt to assassinate nikki during prerelease, we live in a state of fear and stability is a distant dream. the album comes out and it actually SERVES, sure the people with no taste say "give me BTD lana back" "give me LFL lana back" but the girls with taste are obsessed. the production is sunkissed and gorgeous, full and beautiful, and the album is perfect. but after this her next album is in a completely different direction

or B) she gives us the philosophical postmodern conceptual album with exaggerated aesthetics, perhaps even bordering on kitsch, but fully leaning into a cliche of sound and atmosphere that is gorgeous, deemed by some to be meaningless - just a "pretty" album, perhaps - but on the underside actually a deeply philosophical and meaningful album <3

I think for me, and it always happens with every era, each album always clicks when the "hype" dies.
That's why I'm mostly always late on trends, or checking new music. I find it hard to form a genuine opinion on a song, when everyone around seems to be like "This one is the best song!" Because as much as I love hearing different opinions, I don't want to be biased.

I think the album is really nice. Is it her best? In my opinion, it isn't. But it holds a very special place in my heart, and unlike Chemtrails or Paradise, I can actually listen to most of the songs without actually having to be on a particular mood.
I think this album is relatable and unique. It's different, yet arguably "more of the same" as some would say.

I like that it's raw, even if it's not the direction I would have gone for. I love the lyrics, and the vocals are very interesting. The production while simple, is lovely. It's like Lana finally reached the middle-point she failed to reach with Chemtrails. It's not a perfect balance (Norman is) but she's getting there.

Some of the songs I particularly dislike, aren't necessarily bad. It's not the fact they aren't relatable, or have a simple production, but rather, they just don't click. Text Book, Violets for Roses (even though I love that one!) Nectar of the Gods and Sweet Carolina. They're really lovely, but I'm not crazy about them.
The rest, on their own way are incredible

Anyways, I can't wait to see what she does next. While I think she should try to shake up things a little more and go on a different route, I won't be mad if she doesn't. As long as the quality remains the same!
