Where are these rumors that she put her label into debt and that she's selling her house for artistic reasons coming from?  If you combine the album+film streaming, pure/dvd/deluxe sales, tour sales and box office, K-12 made certainly enough for an alternative pop artist with zero radio push. Do you think if atlantic was worried about losing money they'd let Melanie release an album with zero singles? It has to do moreso with the pandemic. The budget they gave her for K-12 obviously wont reflect the budget for MM3 because the money just isn't there in the same capacity due to lack of touring (where the biggest % of artist/label earnings comes from), which is now just starting to recover. That is what's landed her in this situation, where she is relying on depop and NFTs to help partially fund her projects (same as Charli). If she gets a viral tiktok song, Atlantic will give her more funding. Obviously they don't have the resources to give every artist equal funds. And as far as her house goes, if you actually looked at the place, it's on an incredibly crowded lot in a not so great area. She's probably worried you lot are gonna show up at her door and blast Bathroom Synchronicities For Jeff Levin on a bluetooth speaker.

But i agree, k-12 the film itself was obviously a huge learning curve for melanie in terms of script writing, directing, *acting*, and how to rollout an album simultaneously. Which is obviously a no-go, unless you're Beyoncé. I'm glad she's taking the route of Halsey and learning to use the music as a soundtrack that will accompany the story, rather than having the storyline fit inbetween songs. (like in K-12).

K-12 did good, but did it do well for a 5million budget film? She has to return them, that's how the industry works... It seems weird to me that they bet on her and trusted her so hard to give her that BIG of a budget and freedom to create and now they're being very strict with her?

She was supposed to release After School around the time she released Copycat and Fire Drill as singles, but kept postponing it and then scrapped both singles(they didn't do good)

She said she was going to release music videos for every song on the EP(didn't happen),

Playdate blowing up, music video was planned, she did the script, but they made her choose between it or future projects(like what the h it was blowing uppp???)

Again, Test Me was her favorite track and she was very pumped to release a music video for it and it most likely was the planned single for the EP(she posted an story saying she was writing a mv for the ep december 2019) and then The Bakery, written feb 2020, with a very commercial sound and catchy melodies, is put on the EP, released as a single and teased as a trend on tiktok, this speaks for itself(not to mention she tried to start a dancing trend with Copycat which was a failure)

She releases the EP and tells people Test Me's MV depends on how much people stream it, it gets scrapped AGAIN because they made her choose between it or future projects(MM3)

And here we are, the fate of the film is unknown, they still haven't approved of the budget, she's giving us misguided predictions, it's all being postponed and it all screams Atlantic is the one pushing it back since Melanie herself said "my label will kill me for saying this"

Side note and unrelated to anything, I wonder why Cry Baby wasn't originally drawn with split colored hair if Melanie didn't plan to wear brown wigs for the character. Would have been cute either way, but the continuity is nice.

Hopefully she changes up her hairstyle, it was interesting for a few months but I'm kind of over it

I saw a TikTok saying that if you listen to unreleased songs, (not even just MM3 but I Scream etc) "you are NOT a fan". I hate these people so much! They need to get over themselves and realize that wanting to listen to leaked material is natural and not something for other fans to dictate. Drives me nuts

I don't know why everyone on Twitter acts like they know what's going on in her life. Someone will say something with no back-up, and everyone else will just believe it.

 

First, stans were saying that she's moving because "people can't stop leaking her address and music". She's probably just selling because her home is worth 3× what it was when she bought it, and she could get out of LA and fund future projects with that money. Her address has been out for years, her fans just want someone to be mad at over nothing. They blame "leakers" for literally anything, lol.

 

Now, they're saying she "ruined her voice" by smoking weed, and that's why she has a vape in that new pic(over-analysing, much?). She has a lighter next to the vape, so she's probably still smoking something, and either way she didn't ruin her voice with weed. She just has a soft voice that gets easily tired by the technique she uses, and it's understandable that she struggles with some songs, especially towards the end of concerts.

 

Like, I understand speculation. I understand being bored and wanting discussion, we're all bored at this point. But some people just make shit up and spread it around just to talk about something and it's weird. Make it stop, lol.

She dreams of being a filmmaker, but at what cost to her career when they take years to produce, require millions of dollars, and put her in debt to her label? She needs to be more realistic.

i think she has tons of potential as  DIRECTOR, because she has a vision and she does everything in her power to make that vision come to life. but she cannot write a good script for the life of her and neither can she act. if she accepted she's not great at everything and used help with that, i think she could make a good film someday.

 

but i agree that she should focus on making a good album and rollout, and making movies seperally. she just can't help but wanting to do everything at the same time...
