My top 5 favorite things about Henry

 

- The piano and guitar kicking in on the first verse at “I mean baby come on

- And it’s not because of you… (that whole moment and the chorus)

- “ Dontevenbother explain’ “ (her voice is golden here)

- The bridge. Short, sweet, and incredible. All these couuntry singers… (slight pause) …and their lonely rides to Houston…

- Basically the whole song (Very good)

 

Special mention: “they just fly away” heartbreaking.

It truly exceeded all of my expectations. I don’t care how long we wait for the album because I know it will be amazing. She is back.

I've listened to it a couple dozen times now, and it's still hitting hard. It's funny how I can never tell from first listen how strong a Lana song is going to be, but I think it's all her phrasing and vocal shifts that keep it fresh.

it's weird how even when i love her songs on first listen, they just continue to grow the more i listen, to the point where i become overwhelmed with the beauty. such a transcendent experience.  :pray2:  Henry's so angelic and sweet.

THAT'S what it is!!!! I had struggled to put words to the concept in my head, phrasing and vocal shifts are the words I needed. Thank you!

It’s insane how much I love this song. I was really expecting the worst based off the insta snippet but Henry is such a fresh breath of air. After the heaviness of the last 3 albums I feel like I’m rediscovering an old Lana that I forgot I was missing. I’m so excited for this album.

the song feels so peaceful to me- the overall feeling evokes so much self-acceptance. Yes, Henry comes & goes, but it seems to me that she does too. Her epiphanies from God have helped her accept her true desires… & all of herself (even her ‘bad’/dangerous aspects)
 

Parts of it remind me of the 1st sections of Venice Bitch somehow- the being on the road part & making it work is inverted in Henry.

 

it’s so clearly not working with Henry…. & she’s tried & tried & tried. He expects her to always be there when he needs her, but she can’t expect the same in return.

 

She acknowledges she’s no angel (dangerous) & underscores that with ‘get your ass in the house,’ but I actually think that when God also told her she’ll hold the hand of some Icarus, she realized that it isn’t about Henry. She’s not the one… for Henry.

 

it feels like she realizes she’s the one who needs to leave. She can’t stay. She’s not the right one for him. 
 

this to me is also underscored in the last verse about Houston. She’s the country singer. She’s traveling on the road now. She’s self-deprecating herself about not being able to settle-down. Who is gonna be there for her no matter what bc he truly understands that just because she’s not with him all the time, doesn’t mean she won’t love him completely- doesn’t mean that she won’t hold his hand when he truly needs her bc he reached too high (just like she is oft to do bc she’s also dangerous & follows her dreams)


It’s so angelic & peaceful bc accepting herself & needing to leave him for good lead her to her husband (“hey.”)

This album has a lot of potential when it comes to sales and streaming numbers. Country is huge amongst many North American (and white, ngl) folks. I’ve started realizing how popular that genre was like two years ago… Even here in Canada.
