And that's fine, but it works both ways. You shouldn't make a general, definitive statement like "UV isn't high quality" when many fans feel very differently about it.

Not everyone agrees with you on this. And if you're trying to make people come around to your opinion, you're doing a terrible job.
 
Here's the reality:
Adele hit a zeitgeist with her album and hasn't followed it up nearly 5 years later. The Beatles were their own monster, 40 years ago. The comparisons are nonsense. Lana Del Rey has always been on the periphery, she even says it herself. She is an IMMENSELY polarizing figure. The Beatles and Adele are not. They were safe, they were for all ages. Lana Del Rey is not prime-time, she's not Clive Davis, she's not the Grammys, she's not John Lennon, she's not 20x platinum. She is maligned just as much as she is adored. Why are you so intent on making her a Billboard creation? Let the bitch be whatever she wants.

I expected darker visuals honestly

It's a very relative thing just how good the Ultraviolence video is (e.g., compared to Lorde's Tennis Court video, I'd say UV is "Gone with the Wind"). While my initial thoughts about it were "oh man, this isn't going to go over well", since then I've watched the video most of any from the UV era. It's very enjoyable.
 
The video is like a blog entry from an artist that doesn't blog/tweet her own thoughts that often. The act of having her boyfriend (admittedly a well-known fashion photographer) film it on her phone is kind of like that. It was also possibly done in defiance of the label, which didn't seem to want to be associated with it *initially* ("Vice is running shit"), but after 2 million views at Noisey (with no copyright notice at the end), it goes to LanaDelReyVevo (and ends with a copyright Polydor notice). Finally, the speculation has been made (twitter 1/6/15 @DelReyLane) that the theme of the video is related to the next album Honeymoon, but what kind of honeymoon can there be if the groom doesn't show up to the wedding?

Wow, I didn't know there was such a divide amongst fans about which album is better. I seriously adore BTD, Paradise, and Ultraviolence pretty much equally. I love the sound on each album. So a blend of all of those would be perfect for me. But I would still love it if it were more BTD or more Ultraviolence or whatever. I feel so easy to please!

No you didn't, but with this comment you've surely stooped to that level of bitterness. (Aside from the fact that Matt was basically a leech of the forum as opposed to someone simply pestering you, but okay). I'm your FRIEND, c'mon. You call me out when I overreact because everyone knows how sensitive I am. And here I am doing the same to you. You made a rude remark, multiple people called you out on it and now you're getting defensive and mean. Try ignoring something that bothers you instead of lashing out, it's done wonders for me in the past.

Could you imagine?! The beginning and middle of the album are more lighthearted and highlight the new love she's found & the honeymoon stage of the relationship, but towards the end of the album she loses him and reminisces about their honeymoon or something.. "Even my best days without you were nothing in comparison to my worst days once I had found you."

I really love how twigs still embraces all parts of her discography. I mean know one would expect her to keep performing "Hide" now, but it's great

I feel like 50% of the fanbase loves Florida Kilos while the other 50% hates it..
 
Which is ridiculous because everyone should love it. It's amazing.

I want an album closer for Honeymoon along the lines of My Best Days.. it seems really fitting in my mind. Like, I'm definitely here for some happier Lana songs, but the longing & reminiscent vibe of My Best Days would be such a great way to close an album with the title Honeymoon in my opinion..

I don't think anyone here takes issue with whichever album you prefer. But we needn't discuss UV in this thread at all. I mean it's fine to say something like: "I'd be excited to hear a record similar to BTD" but saying that UV is "not that great of an album" is irrelevant and aggravating. I, for one, think of UV as Lana's best offering yet. Am I, and the many people who share this opinion, supposed to allow you to trash our taste in music without batting an eye? See, now we've degraded this thread into petty arguments about albums not related to the album at hand when all @@ilovetati really did was express affection for both the records in question. None of us wish to constrain your right to express your opinion, but a lot of us are tired of people so constantly flexing this right as if we give a fuck
