Ooh mines a hot mess. I have duplicates of every song because of a bunch of fan mixtapes and stuff.
    BTW I love your icon

My old man is a nice man and we share a completely non-incestous, non-statutory rape breaching relationship for your information

That verse sounded more like a scene from Pulp Fiction than Lana's personal life, but that's pretty scary if Lana has overdosed before. I really do pray it'll never happen again.

Ooh, I've been tempted to make a thread like this for a long time but I thought it'd be critically panned by the forum members.

    Anyways:

-I read the word "Off" on a switch and I thought it said "To the Races".
-I stood to do the pledge of allegiance in school the other day and said, "I Pledge Allegiance to my Dad for teaching me-"
-During an assembly, we all stood to sing the National Anthem and I thought they meant Lana's "National Anthem"
-My dad grabbed a Mountain Dew bottle out of the fridge and I automatically whispered to myself "New York City..."
-My Spanish teacher asked the class about poems and the only poem I knew off the top of my head was Walt Whitman's, "I Sing the Body Electric"
-My Social Studies teacher said, "You can't have your cake and eat it too" - and I thought "Don't tell Lana that."

I'll think of more instances in the past as time goes.

Teen Idle by Marina reminds me of something Lana would do in my opinion. It's depressing and nostalgic enough.

Yeah, I hear an "L" after the C, so I don't think it's Blue Oyster Cult.

I like Lana Del Ray/Rey AKA Lizzy Grant so much more than Born to Die. I feel like Born to Die is very "packaged" with it's sound and presentation. AKA just feels so natural in many aspects, it just flows better. Born to Die on the other hand just sounds overproduced on a whole.
  24. YourGirl666 liked a post in a topic by Matt in Unpopular Lana Opinions
    Okay, here's my unpopular opinion.

"Carmen" is the best song on Born to Die. If it wasn't for that song I probably wouldn't love Lana as much as I do right now. When I first heard that song, it gave me chills and the image of Felix Cane slowly dropping down the pole as Lana says, "Darlin' Darlin' Doesn't have a problem" is permanently embedded into my mind. "Carmen" is genius lyrically, proudction wise, and the music video is flawless. It's a brilliant song. I've read tons of comments on Tumblr, Twitter, and YouTube and other websites that just really hate "Carmen" and wish it was kicked off of Born to Die, I could never picture that. "Carmen" just brings me into a David Lynch film, Laura Palmer's secret life, and even the production screams David Lynch for Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet. It's the one song from Lana that honestly blows me away every time I listen to it. I've replayed it nearly 800 times on my iTunes since I first heard it in May and just can't get enough. It's the one song off Born to Die I relate to, not because I'm a druggie or wild child, but it really experiments with the idea that everybody looks fine on the outside but really is crumbling apart early on in their lives.

It's just my view, "Carmen" will always be the song that saved Born to Die for me. Born to Die and Video Games took me over a month to get into.
