honestly what hurts the most is that she lost the "easier" categories. aoty and soty are always super tricky if you're not in the top 5 of the charts and playing on the radio all the time. being snubbed even in her own lane is just a slap in the face. like they could'nt even give her best pop duo with the jon batiste cred. insanity

I’ve been meaning to make this post here for awhile, but recent discussion about Lana’s Alabama days in another thread have reminded me to finally share it!
For years, there has been speculation if Lana really ever lived in Alabama, as claimed on her old MySpace pages and referenced in some of her songs. When I saw Lana’s show in Alabama last September, I spoke to a fan who had met her in Florence earlier than summer and asked her if she really had lived in Alabama. She also recorded a video of her conversation with Lana, so she played that for me too so I could listen (the video was just of the ground, but you could hear Lana speaking.)
When asked if she had once lived in Alabama as per the rumours, Lana said that when she was younger she had a boyfriend named Billy who lived in Mobile, Alabama. She said the relationship was short-lived but was “the most fun (she) had ever had.” She said he would pick her up in his truck and they would go on late night drives around Mobile. 
So, not only does this confirm that she really did spend time in Alabama, but also confirms the existence of Billy/Bill which had also been up for debate for many years! Some theorised this was a placeholder name, a made up character, or a real person we just didn’t know much about.
So, we can assume that songs that mention Alabama or Billy drew inspiration from the same time period.
Perhaps the most direct example we have of this is in Driving In Cars With Boys:
“Mommy's Mercedes or Billy's pickup truck, come home late at night and baby picks me up. Tell him, ‘Just drive on and don't ever stop. Don't take me home again, take me to a new land’”
 
That’s about all that I know, but it’s interesting that we can now finally confirm a few more references in her older songs! x

The most disappointing thing about this new ariana’s song is the SAMPLE. Why can’t artists quit recycling old stuff. She also used a song sampled like hundreds of times in the recent years, also by Madonna herself in newer material. I can’t stand this practice anymore.

UV is just on a different level, she was peak creativity and it is very familiar to the Lana we all know and love so it feels very current still. Everything is so signature to Lana, I mean 3 UV era songs fit perfectly along side the new music of an album released almost 10 years later. 
 
But also I have to give Lizzy/early BTD a lot of credit because no one was or will ever do what she was doing. Everything was so unique and you can tell she was constantly cooking up new stuff.

The fact that it's one from the ultraviolence shoot + the Black Beauty BSide is so special and confirms that she always placed it to that era, even though she tried to make it work for others.
I really hope she's thinking a lot about it and hopes to release Fine China + other Ultraviolence unreleased tracks. Maybe she will actually give a shit and do something for its 2024 10 year anniversary. Maybe an Ultraviolence expanded re-release. Now THAT will steal my money.

She’s releasing Girl With No Face, yeah it’s the title track but at the same time to me is one of the weakest if not the weakest track of the new album. Wrong choice I fear. Sad because the album is very VERY good.
