Making my obligatory comment to defend butterflies @@Foxglove seriously, footage of a live performance is such a classic music video move, and i think thatd be way better than whatever is happening here. like shes giving us rich girls throwing shit at cops and somehow not getting arrested for assault or gunned down? talking on the phone in a parking lot with facial expressions not matching the emotion of the song? like, she cant even be bothered to lip sync in time with the lyrics. i know im kinda a hater but like, cmon lana Lmao no its cool express ur opinion theck- nn mm I honestly have no idea what she was doing w Bartender. Never to sound like an ass but I didnt really feel compelled to even see it. Norman's got a nice interlude feel to it. HiaB I can appreciate, Bartender seems like an afterthought to her. I get what she was trying to go for defo, she was a lot more successful w it w video games, or Venice, but i think the editting has a lot more to do w it. It's not her strongest work, but i see what she's going for. Idk bout u, but having this kind of quality mv kinda just propels my imagination to other things, so it turned out alright for me anyway

I definitely get u on that. Inversely, the fact that its so simple makes it a lot simpler to deviate the technicalities and onto other things. Like, proof in the pieces of film pudding based off the simple constant randomness if that makes sense. Like, enter Ed Edd n Eddy, meets real life. No doubt its a lot softer than most of her previous stuff forsure
-
Oh mm no I totally get you on that. but to be fair, LA's pretty vast, n the areas can be pretty different depending on where u are, so benefit of the doubt for the other person who mentioned that. Maybe bc we live around here that we already know, but it sums up a lot of the areas. And- regardless, mm she did film this where she did and it's just nice to see when u think about it. The subcultures round here're always changing, like tf who keeps unofficially changing things, it's just weird lol and stuff, but I think the area's safe for the time being, 'least I hope. It's literally more of a transition area than a main one so I don't think it'll change as much anytime soon. I love how laidback it is and really hope it doesn't change too quickly. Another reason why I appreciate the vid is that it's kinda like a physical thing that sort of represents that. Like a living frame of it. Highkey happy it's still pretty mellow compared to other places. It's difficult to recognize some areas, even for me these days. That's LA for ya tho, part of it's charm. I'm ranting but u know what I mean right?

I personally love the mash-mash. it's easier to draw out ur imagination w them, and come up w patterns or notice how slight details play into what the record and everything else tries to hold together w what she's trying to say. Like it's easier to read between the lines thru. They're like, supplements to the music, these vids, and it's real calming imo

Mm, when it comes to that, I think regardless, she doesn't have to anymore. I mean heyo, this seemed more like a fun project than anything. After releasing vids for FIILY/Greatest and DT, this seems more like it's just for fans if anything. Not to undermine any principles or sound dismissive by ways of being grateful, but it just really seems that way by this way of the vid. Her expressing herself this way doesn't make it any less, it's just diff from what we expect, dry def. There's still plenty of material to absorb, it's just not what others might want or expect yeah

I think she's incredibly poised in it, strangely enough, and she explored that real well imho. I was confused for a sec, but, and w the rest of the videos she's released this cycle. Idk how to put this properly, the videos are actually still balanced, just shift the focus from the technicalities, and more so- I think it's supposed to be absorbed in full, as a whole, the animations are cute, but what she actually wants u to see, is her. It's strangely wholesome because although sure it's underwhelming from what her videos got us used to, but- this is her. The intimacy is what's supposed to carry this through, and it did. At least for me. Why I wanted to ask about the other peeps who aren't from California is because, at least for me, my intuition's been firing on and off in the vids for more reasons than one, bc growing up around here, it's definitely a lot more immersive in experience. And I fucking don't wanna sound territorial or condescending, but I think what she's doing is taking away the glamour from what Hollywood offers, she moves past it, and gives u an average free day of what it's like in LA. Not to make anyone feel unincluded at all, but it's incredibly local-feeling. This is what the culture's downtime in youth can be like sometimes. It feels like something's ended and I can't put my finger on it exactly. It also feels like she's accepted something about herself that she hasn't before. Damn, her life focus kinda just shifted, and I'm happy for her. In a more collected, but still collective sort of perspective, she's saying she's basically made it, done w it. She's just gonna live her life.

Is it sick that I kinda wanna ask if anyone else gets possible cult vibes from the term spoken word. The album/vinyl'll have spoken Lana passages. Lemme buy a silk nightie, find a slightly older man to dance w like a loon on a full moon while I laugh contentedly w some pinot in one hand, handing tracts w the other bc u know what Im ready would u imagine It'll open w something like. This is ur captain Lana speaking. Ur about to enter the Elizabeth Woolridge Grant experience. Rule no. 1. Purchase peach lip gloss. Glitter, mandatory. Rule 83. Now that ur in the car, proceed to cha cha matcha So on n so forth. U know. I might take it as a challenge n do it

hm current nfr thoughts, the weather's been pretty annoying around here. I loved the cold, and how it rained for those few times these past couple of weeks, but it honestly feels like the end of a western saloon movie since the clouds/fog dk exactly scattered in the sky, which in turn made the sun's glow a lot more, powerful, the yellow that it tinges everything makes me think of mangos, but like hot mangos, who likes hot mangos unless it were in a jam? bc the heat still seeps thru and I'm thinking to myself. It's days from winter what why is it so dry. but then. the video's coming out, and I remind myself, hey get those sunset vibes, while watching it, and it's nice how close the vid's coming out before Christmas, which gets me further into thinking, it's a nice transition to the new year. Should I listen to How to Disappear before all that happens?

I appreciate the effort u took to write this, but u lost me buddy. This sounds like a comedy skit let's compromise? scribble all the weird details, add in more car footage, they're driving in the same car. lots of lights from the city, from a mountain drive view. she could still work at the office, but then they'd meet outside on the roof of the building. picturesque or at least artistically shot, we get lots of cut frames from her and her s.o they'll meet serendipitously, she'll leave ahead, he'll go chasing. she was walking slowly bc she knew he'd catch up. Sidewalk. lots of dramatic yellow lighting. view of their backs walking, then intimate shots of them laughing. she looks down and he does too, they're both smiling. she stares into the camera, smiling gratefully, him first, and then it fades abruptly. Video Games video quality. they can still hold hands, but to make it a bit livelier, we can actually cut the vid when their hands clasp together, he's stroking her hand with his thumb.
