Finally watched Dead Poets Society and oh my god I'm drowning in tears, definitely became one of my favourite movies 

Melanie Martinez was directly accused of rape while Lana contracted with a company that employed someone accused of DV. Both messed up, but one is clearly more responsible for accusations.

I wouldn’t say she’s “okay” with it, but rather morbidly curious or fascinated by these darker themes—especially in the abstract, artistic form. 
 
I think we all probably surround ourselves with more morally dubious people than we realize, but since we’re not celebrities, no one is digging into our friends/colleagues/etc.‘s closets. 

i disagree, i see nothing wrong with provocative/shocking lyrics, as long as they're done tactfully enough, it's obvious she's dealt with some bad, perhaps abusive relationships, perhaps was involved with some sort of cult, and hinted at possibly physical abuse from her mother my father never stepped in when his wife would rage at me so i feel nobody should dictate how she express her feelings regarding abuse, i do not find it immoral to talk about such heavy things like this, but i like dark, provocative art, to an extent, so that's just how i feel
 
at the end of the day, listeners can decide what they do or do not feel comfortable listening to, but it isn't like her music is usually sunshine, puppies, and rainbows to begin with, she's said similarly provocative things in put me in a movie, ultraviolence, arguably beautiful player, and butterflies pt. 2 as a whole, not to mention all of the lolita references, and, again, i don't consider her immoral for being provocative, if anything, we can only speculate at the end of the day what she really means by what she says

wow this is really sad. my heart is with the victim, i hope she is doing okay right now. 

Regarding this, and I think it applies to every single person, it doesn't matter if someone does a certain value. But if you're partner's values include racism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-migrant sentiment... no matter what you may think of it, by being with them and tolerating it, you might as well have those values yourself. 

Lana seems like a lovely, fucked up weirdo who makes great music and bad personal decisions. This became clear to me when she shit on feminism in 2014 and then dated a cop

The things she's done that I find fucked up are:
 
 
1. Question For The Culture (had this been the only messed up thing she did, and it was for awhile, i would have ignored it) 
2. Deciding to use Black Lives Matter for clout in a song not even remotely about it. 
3. Marrying a disgusting, openly and violently transphobic Trump supporter all the while claiming to oppose Trump and support LGBT people. And following that up with reacting to the criticism by begging fan pages on Instagram not to talk about it. She didn't bother to say anything about it openly except that. But it tracks with her love for the cult preacher.
4. This bullshit. Her team is a reflection of her, acts on her behalf, is responsible to her. Clearly they ghosted the victim. And her manager is blocking people and deleting comments about it. She couldn't have known initially and that's important but her team is still fucked. But I will say I'll give her credit if she actually takes action on this at some point.

Also, TaP deleting comments doesn’t mean they’re not doing something about it BTS or protecting him. They’re protecting Lana, the conversation this would cause for an artist with Lana’s media history could be massively impacting for her career and mental health. 

not putting her on a pedestal  i have no problem with admitting that she's done some questionable things, and hasn't always been perfect, i just don't want to automatically label her a bad person, or someone who's siding with and protecting someone committing domestic violence, when we don't know every detail of what's going on regarding people we don't know
 
and, regardless, somebody on her team doing something bad is NOT THE SAME as her, HERSELF, doing something bad, i do agree she's responsible for her team, to an extent, but i do not believe she directed her team to ignore particular people if they speak out on somebody they hired doing something bad, honestly, i have no idea as to why her team would be ignoring and silencing someone who's just speaking out about something they're concern about, and doesn't look good on their part, but i'm not going to just point fingers at lana for it, and like @jaesana said, maybe certain people have legal limitations as to what they can do or say

If the allegations are true, a man with a history of DV and court cases should not be working for a security company, in any capacity, period. I really doubt she’s making this up. 
 
And if what she also said about him sharing details and bragging about conversations he has overheard that’s likely an NDA violation, which I assume he probably signed one if working with a celebrity. 

deleted my other post because i found it misinformed and a bit crass, but i just think we shouldn't automatically assume lana's aware of the allegations and is supporting her bodyguard regardless, when we don't even know these people, what's going on in their personal lives, or how they feel about said occurrences
 
NGL it sometimes feels like some people here are just eager for an opportunity to hate on lana, to have reason to criticize her, or just want any sort of drama surrounding her they can discuss and make themselves look good about, which i find quite pathetic
 
if her bodyguard really was just some random guy who was hired from a third-party company, i really find it ridiculous to put so much blame on her when it's literally just some dude she hired, it's not like he works closely and personally with her, he likely works as a bodyguard for other people as well and is just fulfilling his role, and likely isn't too directly involve with her or her life

I'm really not saying this to be confrontational or aggressive or anything really, I like you and I think you're cool! But realistically, Lana nor Ben are his boss, they're not the CEO or HR of Black Box security, when you hire a third party service you're not that involved in background checks, the most they can do is request a new security guard and forward all of this info. I know cause my dad does a similar thing for his company, like he's polite and friendly to the security guards, but he's not all in their business y'know? I hope this girl gets in contact with Black Box security because they're the ones who can do something like firing him. I don't mean to blindly defend, I'm thinking about this logically, and like I said you can't fire someone from a company you're not in charge of. You can only say hey I don't want to work with this person anymore for these reasons please look into it and send me another bodyguard. I hope this guy gets fired cause he's awful, but that's Black Box's responsibility

Same, I wouldn’t complain the album title is a snooze and whilst that promo photo she released is cute it shouldn’t be an album cover in that quality.

I wouldn’t put it past her to change the album title and date again…..
