I have the same problem. I change the grammar in my head because I find that the original wording isn't flowing very well, it's a bit pedantic. (but who am i to criticise her wording LOL). I also hate "puts you in a trance" and prefer something like "sets you in a trance", i find some words too basic idk

there's a similar problem, imho, in 13 beaches and (the first verse of) cherry

    Best American Record
    He was cool as heck
    He was cool as heck...

I feel like I don't even need to mention What about all these children, and what about all their parents? And what about all the crowns their wear in hair so long like mine? of Chokechella but this thread is that lyric's home.

I love Tomorrow Never Came but:
-Whywhywhywhywhywhywhy? People always laugh when I play that song. In that specific part.
-Isn't life crazy I said, now that I'm singing with Sean?

Get Free is one of the best songs in Lust For Life but:
I feel like the second verse could've been worded better Like my part was I, was not discerning, and you as we found out, were not in your right mind. The message of the lyrics is actually nice but it feels forced or gramatically incorrect (even though it's not). Unless that's the point or I'm missing something.

in terms of eras i suppose honeymoon was pretty underwhelming with minimalistic promo, recycled footage used for freak and also mtwbt, not giving the title track a proper mv, and perhaps the addition of the backup dancers for concerts but sonically it's amazing, i always listen to all of lana's music anyway

the only low point of hm is perhaps the nina simone cover and the vinyl discontinuity between freak/art deco. i'd hate to pick a favorite but i find honeymoon to be the blueprint of what i like in an album. to me - it's almost perfect

i love every single song, and the admirable thing is that the album is very cohesive but also lana revisits (or at least acknowledges) different  styles of music from classic lounge, gospel, trap and jazz

also something that is very specific to honeymoon is that every track is in the right place: she achieved to find the perfect opener/closer combo (i ignore nina - whom i love dearly- and pretend it ends with swan song even tho the cover is ok, and also appropriate, so no hard feelings on my part). the album starts with the perfect incipit that almost breaks the 4th  wall and nudges about lana's popularity and every other track in the middle is in its right place. And love that she has an interlude

i also love how chill the album is, i like that lana has something like that in her repertoire. anyway this is all my opinion, i admit i have a negative bias against deluxe versions of albums and while UV sonically and lyrically might be more interesting there are like 4 different versions of the album (standard, deluxe, deluxe with an itunes song exclusive and a japanese deluxe version - i could be wrong) so it's kinda jarring. at least LFL has the perfect closer with GF.

i'm also partial to the surreal themes of the songs and to the hermetic approach of her lyrics, which also brings some variety to her songwriting because that's a different style from BTD/UV where she seems like she's narrating a story, while in HM she seems addressing herself or the audience about her thoughts and feelings in a dialogue. I feel that we are more included in the narrative and lana's persona with this album.

it might seem like lana hasn't taken any risks but compared to what the music industry is, the project was very risky. the tempo is too slow and not very youtube attractive. I could see the songs being played by a radio tbh but not becoming viral and eliciting lots of clicks which is something everyone attempts to do with drums, fast hooks and lush music videos (altho lana could use a better marketing strategy ...)

i'll stop before writing an essay, honeymoon is bomb.

Hey guys! So I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves to make playlists for various holidays/celebrations (or just in general!) I've started to make my halloween playlist for a party I'm hosting this year! I'd love to see if anyone else has made any playlists or if you have any good songs I should add to mine!

Here's what I've got so far... (not close at all to what the final is going to look like, still very rough!)
Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Take Me On the Floor - The Veronicas
    Sleepwalker - Bonnie McKee
    Disturbia - Rihanna
    She Wolf - Shakira
Larger Than Life - Backstreet Boys <- Not very scary but I think the laugh at the beginning is kind of creepy
Dead Mans Party - Oingo Boingo
Tear You Apart - She Wants Revenge
Blue Monday - Orgy <- it was in I know what you did last summer, so, I had to
    Secret (Shh) - Charli XCX

No, it would have nothing to do with that.
That part of Get Free in the WM video had a very obvious meaning if you stop to think about it for a moment. Get free = rocket being shot up in the air, and the Love poster, Lana's excitement about intergalactical possibilities, the Love video. I think it's safe to assume it was just the expression of the wish to "get free" get away from here and go to a new land that is unexplored and exciting.
If you listen to Lana's BTD era interviews, she says one of the main things that fascinates her about old americana is that people had a sense of "more being out there", people being curious about the possibilities of what tomorrow might bring, whereas nowadays in society we think we discovered everything and reached our potential so the general attitude is more pessimistic/annoyed. So the idea of getting away from here to a new unexplored land is very exciting for her.

I heard somewhere that Lana makes her albums for Vinyl format, but on HM.. the transition between Freak and Art Deco isn't able to be heard because you have to switch discs to begin playing Art Deco, which isn't very good.

I could hardly watch the videos, this is so sickening and all my thoughts and sincere condolences are with those who were there who have been victims of the shooting or had to witness these kind of attacks

it is really hard to get the courage of continuing to live life like you did before, unless people come together and encourage and empower each other to not succumb to terror. i'm always torn between being paranoidly afraid of going anywhere and pretending to be brave and go outside and have fun and do all the things terrorists (and the like) want to make you afraid of. and las vegas *is* a (or maybe THE) place for having fun and letting go, i pray for the people to heal, and that in the future, governments might show to be more willing to protect its citizens with the right legislation

3 years ago, i was with my friends drinking hot wine in paper goblets until a truck driver crashed into the christmas market in front of us and run over 11 people and it took us a moment to go up some stairs to a store, and some hours later we were supposed to get to a bus to go to belgium and enjoy a lighthearted weekend before the real shit began at prep school. i'm glad we went with our plans and stuck together and i don't know if it counts as fighting against terrorism but despite all my fears i didn't want to stop living because of people like these

this is all trivial but the first time i listened to the digital album after buying it was outside (i still stream it), i was sitting at this bench with a lovely soft wind in the air and heroin started i was in love, it was perfect

I went on vacation a few days after LFL was released and listened to it the whole way through while on the plane ride, for some reason listening to Heroin while in flight was profound. It was nighttime so all I could see looking out my window was darkness and city lights below me, with the chorus playing. heavenly
