Dying at the fact that she uses this thing and not one of those super cute typewriters that fold up nicely into a briefcase -

I want to maim whoever added that unnecessary echo/reverb (?) to certain words on California. You know the ones.

Hehehe she's acting like I do when drinking too much while angry, but less articulate and conniving not to speculate on her current circumstances that we don't know but God Bless the Broken Road or whatever Also I LOVED what she wrote on the subject of her relationship with her mother. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb, and while I'm blessed with an amazing mother most of my friends have horrible matriarchs to varying degrees and they're better off finding love in people less volatile. Some have gone scorched earth, some keep their moms at arms length, and I'm very proud of them all.

Give her PR people challenge, also calling someone else u don’t know on a personal level a ‘gentle personality’ or whatever she said sndndujsjsbdudjd

NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE

Literally all she needs to say is “Part of uplifting women is letting them tell their own stories, and not putting words in their mouth- I see that I failed to take my own advice. I’m sorry ladies, I hope you can forgive me for using your names, art, and identities in my arguments without first asking for your permission and opinions. Nothing but love & support,” like that’s IT LMFAO

Yes, I am aware of and agree with all of this. I think it's strange for her to compare the critical reception of her music (BTD & UV especially) with that of pop-rappers who DO constantly sing about being 'strong and empowered', 'not needing a man' etc. Yes it is a double standard, but when the mainstream socially digestible view of feminism is being strong and independent all the time she is bound to catch flack for her subject matter. She knows this (or at least I hope so) she needs to stick to her guns (i.e. continue to sing about what she wants & subject matter important to her) and explain herself better outside of the music to escape that 'anti-feminist' label.
-
If anything shouldn't she be comparing herself to someone like Taylor Swift, who was and continues to be criticized for singing mainly about her role in messy relationships and presents herself as hyperfeminine? (Not as hyperfeminine as 2012 Lana, but still)
-
What? She literally says "...have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, fucking, cheating etc..." people had #1 songs with those subjects long before Lana and will continue to do so long after her. It has nothing to do with race, she's either misrepresenting her thoughts or doesn't understand the root of the criticisms of her own earlier work. People weren't up in arms about her seeing herself as a sexy/glamorous woman, but someone who 'glorified' bad relationships in the majority of her music- Which absolutely is unfair and I'm in no way ok with. Yes, she should be able to write without whatever she wants, especially about her own experiences without being panned as anti-feminist or pro-abuse, but the examples of artists she chose doesn't align quite right with her own place in the industry... in my opinion anyway.

Not really sure of her point in the first paragraph bc doesn't she mostly catch flack for singing about abusive relationships both physical and emotional, and adoring men who she's sure will end up hurting her thus setting a 'bad example?' I'm not a huge pop person but do these women she named sing mostly about that same subject matter? Ofc they have a few songs here and there about bad relationships and experiences but it's not the focus of their discography in the way Lana's is... Either way fuck yeah it's Gemini Season baby I love when she starts stupid shit!
