another tidbit that stuck out to me like a sore thumb: I also read that Yod like to record his music in one take, never practicing or rerecording as it was more pure and a channel 'direct' from God then. Sounds like someone we know with her practice of recording everything in one take eh?

I think I should make a Source Family mega post because I'm finding more and more connections to other songs and Lana in general as well not just with Ultraviolence. Would you all be interested in that?

My favorite definitely was Ultraviolence.
She needs to bring the strings back.

I don't have the pretense that I know LDR. What I know is from her interviews and I have formed an idea about her personality which could be wrong but this is mainly the consequence of her inability to have a coherent public discourse. I don't think that she's doing that on purpose to fuel her "mystique" rather she seems insecure about everything: her music, looks, public perception, her life and as a consequence she gets "confused" when opens her mouth.
 
About her relationship with fans I think that is more complex than "she's great with fans", because i have the feeling that those first row extravaganzas at every concert of hers are more about her (insecurities) than about the fans. Fans are also those in the back who don't see her for 15 min in a concert because she's taking selfies in the front row. She has garnered some touring experience and It's just ridiculous that the communication between her and the fans during the concert it's limited to some awkwardly uttered "you're amazing". She has powerful songs that could be introduced nicely connecting with the audience and the whole experience would be better. I get the fact that she's not a trained or natural performer and I like the fact that her shows lacks the usual gimmicks and theatrics but I have the feeling that she's investing to little in this meetings while her fans adore her.

Unfortunately the last series of interviews gave me a picture about Lana of a confused, immature and (yes!) selfish person! She always poses like she is the provider for the family (and the money is hers). But what family may I ask? Wife Barry? Weirdo sister Chuck or frozen in project Charly?! Lana is manipulative because she's insecure and she needs this people around her but when her mood changes she goes on with her projects and forgets about them. They seem like accessories to her fucked up movie life! Barry is forgotten, without money, without a career, he basically wasted 3 years from his life on a manipulative and selfish person.

It's just an idea she has. Idk why some of you are acting like this is some sort of official announcement. She could completely change her mind in one week.

Am I the only one who thinks there are 50% of chance that Lana is manipulating the press?  After learning that a backlash can raise you up, can all this mess be  part of the UV campaign?
 
Is Lana that smart?  Is Lana just a victim of circunstance with the Guardian or just a girl a little too obsessed  with death and the dead? She seems in control this time doesn't she?

I think the Jim in Ultraviolence is actually Jim Beam whiskey that she was also posing with in the Kinda Outta Luck video:
 


 
In the bridge she changes the pronouns from third person to second person (from "he used to call me/he hit me..." in the verses to "loving you was really hard/I love you forever"), making a distinction between Jim and the cult leader.

Dafuq?   Just because someone doesn't like the new sound it does not make them a inferior fan or anything
 
I like the UV sound as well as I like the BtD and Paradise sound, but I can understand it if not everyone likes  style-changes.
Just becuase you are a fan, you don't have to like everything an artist releases.
I'm a huge Mando Diao fan, but i don't like their most recent album, 'cause I'm not into the 80s style. So what? I still like the band. And if some people prefer Trip-Hop-Monroe-Lana and don't like the "Narcotic-Swing"-style, it's  ok too.

No way she had that kind of life. Maybe some episodes of unorthodox situations, but I see her writing just like literature, when you read a novel, it's often semi-autobiographical.

Born To Die was better than Ultraviolence.
 
Her old demos were the absolute best, though.

I love her but she confirmed she said those things to him but he should have "read between the lines" before writing that article. This is a lame excuse for me. 

Love them both, but Born To Die is the album of my life...

Well it's all down to personal opinion but why would you say UV lyrics are better than BTD?
I mean come on....

??? shes got lyrics from other people and talking about 'her baby' and boyfriends in a lot of UV, how is that not filler and how is that depth? btd lyrics are far and away more story telling, entertaining and make more sense (this is what makes us girls, carmen, filler? are you kidding?). uv doesn't even have a 'OTTR' pssh.

Cute video but nothing beats Ride.

It's nice but still waiting on one of those high production videos like BTD, Ride, or National Anthem.

how? she may have used special effects in the past, but they were never so obvious (i.e the alligator in blue jeans, etc) 
 
overt CGI is antithetical to the whole stripped back, retro aesthetic. its cheap and trashy, but not in a subversive, john waters type of way. its too in-your-face and it doesn't leave any room for analysis or nuance

MethUserlah inspires the same horror and disgust in me as Bradley Soileau does for so many other people it seems

Umm, I'm disappointed. She keeps canceling everything.    I know that she doesn't like promoting, but it's kinda unprofessional.
