Patriarchy actually doesn't benefit men as much as one would think tbh. It sets out a standard based mostly upon socially constructed gender roles. While this obviously takes power away from women as it expects them to be docile, submissive and homemakers when they may not want to be it also expects things from men. Men in a patriarchal society are expected to be masculine, often abrasive and the breadwinners of a family. It disallows men to express any kind of emotional sensitivity without being perceived as feminine. In conclusion, patriarchy kind of sucks for everyone.

She was always beautiful imo but anyone can dress sexy, grind in music videos and be conventionally attractive but I like how she doesn't try hard to be sexy; she just is. Her personality and attitude adds to her sexiness.

I actually really liked Video Games, the music the whole conception about the video and off course her voice. Lana is not drop dead gorgeous in my opinion is more like a girl next door type of beauty. I also think that what makes Lana a incredible face for videos and photography is more that she is a chameleon and has a very interesting face that the camera loves and not only the fact that she is very pretty. Take Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen for example. Both of them are 2 of the most sucessful models of all times.. There are several models that are a lot more beautiful than them. But they have a very interesting type of beauty that is easily captivated by the camera and both of them are huge chameleons. Both have very powerful eyes and expressions like Lana . Is something hard to explain but some faces are just born for videos and pictures. I think Lana has one of those faces.I think Katy Perry is quite beautiful but I don't think her face is interesting camera wise after a while becomes boring and plain. But if you look at Katy she is quite gorgeous even if that beauty is somewhat vanilla. Gaga in the other hand is not gorgeous or even very pretty but her face is interesting in ways that she becomes a interesting face camera wise. In my opinion Lana is more than beautiful she is interesting. The combination of beauty and being interesting is what makes her get all the attenton she gets. Music is meant to be heard after all not to be seeing. That is music wise so yes I think she would be successful. But if you ask me if she was going to be modeling, being the face of H&M or getting as many covers as she does if she wasn't beautiful I would say: Not a chance. All that extra comes with beauty and that extra makes your name be seeing a lot.

That would be a very interesting Thread @@lola. I think her influence happened in several areas in different ways. Not only her music specifically but the way her visuals and image gone vira was the announce of winds of changel. I think Beyoncé's visual album is connected to Lana in many ways. Not the songs or production but what happened to Lana and Video Games was very unique. The video was as important as the music the timing for such retro "saudosismo" was perfect. The same with Blue Jeans and BTD videos. It's a simple image that made you feel something, that connected strongly to people and was stronlggy connected to Lana and the music. l think Beyoncé tried to recreate that with her album, that moment when the image and sound complete each other in many ways. Lana obviously didn't create such thing but has a long time that an artist was so attached to the visuals and both gone viral equaly
 
Madonna, Britney and Gaga are pretty much visual artists as well but is not in the simple way Lana is it's hard to explain the difference. Lana's visual art is made to look beautiful yet effortless, like she is not actually creating but just being. Does that make sense? Like in Beyoncé most videos are made to look somewhat effortless yet they aren't. 

The 5th act on Friday is pretty lame though. 

I think Lana has influenced artists since she has become more popular and I think a thread discussing that could be interesting if we could manage to keep it civil but those two examples are kinda far-fetched.

"Heaven is place on earth with you" is probably my all time favourite line, even though she didn't come up with it. There's just something about the way she uses it that makes it hers.
 
Same with "Take a walk on the wild side" and "Light of my life, fire of my loins". Who else could get away with using those iconic lines and still make them sound like they belong in their song? She just owns her lyrics so much, I guess that why it's weird to hear someone like Cheryl Cole sing Lana lyrics.

The first song I ever heard of hers was Video Games, and I hated it. I told some of my friends how she was terrible and I got them all to dislike her too. Then I couldn't get VG out of my head, and I fell in love with it/her, and I got said friends to like her too. I absolutely hate the way she looks in the National Anthem video I have an entire album of Lana songs that I've titled as 'Crusty' because I think the songs are horrible, but I don't want to delete them because I want a large collection (currently at 234 songs!) I think I prefer Lizzy to Lana, but I still love Lana I think Lizzy looked horrible with short blonde hair Even though so many people seem to like her songs with Aaron LaCrate and Princess Superstar, I think they're horrible. (They're in that Crusty album I was talking about) This is about my favorite thing on this website and I don't know why . I need a poster of   for my room.

As much as I love Black Beauty and AFFA i still see them as the aftermath of Paradise, so it would be more fitting with a new sound.

All the scenes were just perfect,
but Bel Air was my favorite, cause it was so special. It really moved me, I just sat there crying. That song has a special meaning to me
and the video made it even better and Tropico as a whole is a masterpiece 

The bel air was my fav visually I love the goldness of bel air and how simple yet beautiful it was.
