Gosh, I hope she never comes on here and reads these posts lol. We, her fans, drag her almost every time she does something. That said, the dress and the hairstyle are the worst. Burn those clothes and her stylist (or lack there of).

Lana to feature on Barrie's upcoming album!
kitschqueen replied to NamiraWilhelm's topic in New Releases
I actually really like his music? Granted I found him through Lana (I don't want to pretend that I didn't), but he is a really talented musician. Some of his music is just meh but he also has a lot of fantastic stuff: Chivalry is Alive and Well and Living in Glasgow, Art of Horror, his cover of Serve the Servants, Mary, amongst a bunch of other songs. I find it so incredibly rude when people bombard him with posts and tweets about Riverside without any other interest in him as an artist. Why bother? And I think it's clear he's not quite over the whole thing so people are really only adding insult to injury. -
You can get the exact shirt from filthmart. She also got a leather jacket from there which she wears on the Liberation Next cover and a few other vintage t-shirts if i'm not mistaken. This is what the shirt actually looks like:

Is anyone going to be seeing her exhibition at the MOMA? I'm thinking of potentially flying back home to see it

From The Big Karmic picture paragraph on I thought this interview was rather refreshing. She opened up a little bit more about how she ticks, what she likes, and what we should expect from Honeymoon. I find it's very rare that she offers new information as most of her interviews are just rehashes of things she's been saying since 2012. Wish this would have been a jumping off point in the interview as opposed to being the intro to such a short section of "new" info. Also, “The first thing I need is to be happy, which can be difficult when you tour for seven months out of the year.” how sad/frustrating/defeating

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

I would love for her to go back to her surf noir vibes and have light and airy beats but have contrasting dark lyrics. I think it could be an absolutely mind blowing album if that materialized. -
Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread
kitschqueen replied to ilovetati's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I don't think she's quite found a sound she's satisfied with. BTD/P was influenced by the label and UV seems to be an album used solely to gain artistic credibility (at least to me). With Honeymoon i'm hoping she goes into it uncompromising and puts out a record that isn't geared towards sales or anything other than producing a final product that represents accurately and competently the enigma that is Lana Del Rey. I wonder how long until she starts giving descriptions of the album that end up not fitting the final product at all -
Me rn and i'm only on the second song

Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

but is the bolded part actually that far fetched? -
Unpopular opinion: Lana is a master manipulator. I think a lot of the controversy that surrounds her is precisely calculated. There always seem to be just enough commotion for people to talk about her yet not quite enough to make them abandon her. Idk..too many things seem to "randomly" pop up at convenient times.

I've received a couple messages about the song/movie also from someone who attended the premiere. What they've said: it plays once during the movie (lyrical) and definitely one other time (instrumental), possibly two. "the song is about her innocence and not being able to stand up to her husband." "it reflects the somber mood of the paintings as well as how Amy Adam’s character feels as a housewife being forced into near slavery to crank out these paintings while her husband takes all the credit." They added that the song is very fitting for the movie. It has the same tempo and tone as Ultraviolence (the song) The chorus is “biii-g eyes, …. biii-g eyes" and there is a mention of loving daddy And finally I asked if it was as orchestral as Y&B and they said no. I was already pumped to see the movie but now i'm over the top with excitement since Lana + Tim Burton is going to, I assure you, be magical

She has brilliant ideas and visions, but it's almost like she's back in the Lizzy Grant days making homemade videos and trying to make it. It's clear that this era is suffering without the financial and artistry support from her label. Limited promo, music videos that are average at best, and the overwhelming stagnation of this era is a real pity. The records good, I agree it doesn't have the same longevity and commercial appeal as BTD/P does, but I still think it deserves and needs a little more backing from her label. I just don't get how something she claims to love and is more representative of her is receiving basically the silent treatment

Physical Exclusive Bonus Track Revealed: "Flipside"
kitschqueen replied to Mind Melt's topic in New Releases
It probably reminds you of Ride Flipside: You don't wanna break me down You don't wanna say goodbye and You don't wanna turn around You don't wanna make me cry but... Ride: Don't leave me now Don't say good bye Don't turn around Leave me high and dry -

For being a photographer I haven't been very impressed with any of the Lana x Francesco works so far. I don't get it

I was hoping the filter look was just because they were scans/photos of the magazine, but the person who originally posted these posted the Nicki Minaj ones from the same music edition and they didn't look like this at all. They were much cleaner and crisp. I was going to contact them but their askbox is off.

I feel like Ultraviolence was Lana's response to criticism in regards to her authenticity. If you take even the slightest bit of time to examine the album you quickly realize that Ultraviolence isn't anymore "Lizzy Grant" than BTD. Sure this era she chooses to emphasize different musical inspirations and exchanges the rappers and hip-hop people for rockers and alternative people, but at the soul of the songs and the lyrics very little to nothing has changed. Claiming that UV is more her is silly. It's basically the same thing. I wholeheartedly believe that the sole purpose of this album was geared towards cementing her as an artist and assuring the general public that she has genuine talent. Additionally, I take this album with a grain of salt. Based on trends this sound will stick until she decides to put out a new album where she will undoubtedly cite different musical inspirations, interests, and claim it as more her. So if you like it enjoy it while it's here, if you don't wait for the next album and hope you like the new sound. Overall: UV: 3/5 BTD/P: 5/5 UV would not have made me a fan.
