  1. I'm not favoring commercial success and big budget production, i'm favoring effort. I just don't understand how something she claims as more representative of her, and more in tune with her interests is garnering little to no attention. I understand she's not going to promo the hell out of her album because that isn't her style, but even her label has little to no interest it seems at least to me. I do agree she received artistic merit from this album though, but that's about it. Then again, if that was her only goal (which I suspect/reason for such a drastic change) I suppose it's a success. Knowing how sensitive she is to how other people feel and her need for acceptance in an artistic community I think UV was geared at cementing her as an artist and not an industry puppet.
  2. Not to be rude but, this era so far = Ultraviolence video So much potential but turning out to be a big let down
  3. I actually really like Emile's production I didn't particularly like FKA Twigs' songs per say but the production was great. He's also produced some songs for SZA that are extremely good. I'd take Emile over Dan A any day of the week.

I think the ballads are some of the strongest from the album. This is a very strong album that most likely won't get the recognition it deserves, sigh.
  5. people have been posting about blue blue coming out in 5 days (from today)
  6. I'm in love with this line. I think it's the delivery "drinks on the pat-eeeeooo"
  7. I skip Ultraviolence, Black Beauty, and Guns and Roses every time I play the record
  8. I want a Sad Girl video so bad It has such good imagery! I can visualize her sitting in a smoke filled bar by her man daddy and telling the story from her point of view. She could hit the positive, negative, and critical aspects of this song beautifully. It could be a perfectly stripped back video that would go well with the theme of the videos she's been doing this era. Quick story board: seated @ bar w/man, talking/hanging about/around him (verses) > admiring him while realizing he'll never truly be hers (chorus) > drink more, back to glamorizing woman on the side > (variation of the chorus scene) > altercation physical or verbal with other woman/people who are there criticizing her (bridge) > leaves bar escorted out by daddy after altercation (last chorus) ....at least thats what i've been visualizing since i've heard the song.
  9. Who came up with the name "No Kung Fu" and what was the inspiration behind it?
  10. Me: Do you know who Lana Del Rey is? Uncultured swine of Pa: Who? Me: She's a singer, most importantly my wife I only have 3 mutual friends on FB that like her; 1 of which I introduced to her.
  11. I just got into her a month ago after hearing her on Ab-Soul's new album. Absolutely love her. Shattered Ring, Julia, Warm Winds, and Sweet November are my favorites.
  12. Flame-colored paradise for you darling But death doesn't come with a warning Velvet Crowbar
  13. I don't think it's that we want Lana to be predictable because that would be impossible, it's that there is a certain level of quality and effort that still needs to be present whether it's a multimillion dollar music video or one shot on an iPhone. If the Ultraviolence video was executed well I would have no problem with it, but the lack of effort is so apparrent. It's almost like she said, Ultraviolence is the new single so lets shoot a video so I can give them something.
  14. I get she's trying to detach herself from the BTD/Paradise era with her music and visuals but there are better ways to do it then to put out poorly made music videos. I've already accepted the fact that we won't be getting anymore BTD, NA, or Ride style music videos, but that doesn't mean that there should be a complete and total lack of effort. Summer Wine, Summertime Sadness, and all of her old Lizzy videos are perfect examples of where she was given little to work with yet managed to make something good. I would rather only 2 quality music videos or even 1 rather than 3-5 poorly made ones. This whole era seems to me that she's trying so hard to prove that she is authentic and it's ultimately ruining everything.
  15. I didn't know they used instagram to shoot it Summertime Sadness pt.2, no thanks. Sorry Lana

  17. I think Brooklyn Baby would be a great choice for a single. It's light and airy, it has the whole image/vibe that she is going for now (reasons why I don't see MPG being a single), it's one of the most radio friendly songs, and (imo) it's one of the strongest songs all around on Ultraviolence. It would get attention from people who understand the sardonic tone in addition to those who truly think it's a hipster anthem inadvertently.
  18. "The Saddest, Baddest Diva in Rock" I can see the I wish I was dead quote and sad girl theme are going to be mainstays in interviews this era
  19. The lack of strong lyrics and repetitiveness of UV bores me
