Wait no since we've officially completed a survivor game for Born to Die and Paradise, I think we should do one for Born to Die: The Paradise Edition. All 24

I love this thread and for fun's sake I always try to take her songs at face value while reading all the interpretations, but personally I think a lot (if not most) of what she writes about didn't actually happen. Yeah, I know she says all her songs are 100% auto-biographical and all that, but Lana's often the epitome of evasiveness and contradiction, so...

I think her songs are a mix of facts (stuff that happened to her and people she knows) + her imagination (things she wishes had happened, an exaggeration / dramatization of what actually happened, inspiration taken from films, songs, books, the lives of famous people...), so I'd have no trouble believing something like this.

But anyway, back to 'Lanalysis' mindset.

She's great. Not only do I love Grimes, the artist, but I really like Claire, the person. Her interviews are always so much fun, plus I love her attitude towards life and respect most of her opinions on social issues.

Anyway, much as I love her 3 albums, the first thing I ever listened to was Darkbloom so that holds a special place in my heart (ew, how sappy) and Vanessa is still one of my favourite songs. Particularly love this performance:

And Oblivion really broke my heart when I finally found out what it was about, and made me admire her even more.

And yet I also lusted after you for posting this.

That "cheap and the best" line, I hear "She got the best," or something along the lines of that.

    Great job, Storm!

"Hannah Cohen, born in San Francisco in 1986, left home as a teenager, soon finding herself in New York and becoming over the next few years something of a muse to the city's art scene, posing for Richard Prince, Terry Richardson, David Salle, Will Cotton, and Ryan McGinley.

Hannah also immersed herself in New York's music scene, working at the Village Vanguard, and privately she started teaching herself guitar and writing songs.

Hannah's debut record, Child Bride (2012), was produced by Thomas Bartlett, aka Doveman, known for his keyboard work with artists like The National, Martha Wainwright, and Antony and the Johnsons, and also producer of upcoming records by Glen Hansard and Julia Stone. The core band is a small group of some of New York musicians.

About her inspirations, she says: "For the past five years I have been mostly listening to Brazilian vinyl from the 60s and 70s. The classics like Caetano Veloso—his record Jóia is an absolute favorite of mine.""

Yeah, I know what you're thinking - " Yet another model turned singer. Right. *roll eyes* ".

Well, what can I tell you. I completely fell in love with her voice and beautiful & incredibly melancholic songs. She's been described as "Lana Del Rey without all the Hollywood", and I can kinda see why; if I had to describe her album in 2 words I'd say "summertime sadness", for sure. I think she's quite special and definitely worth checking out. Sadly, her début album seems to have mostly passed under the radar...

I've seen LA FEMME Live last month with my father. They are amazing. And tbh...the live performances are better than any recorded stuff of them. Bless this band.

I really don't know what it was, so it's anybodys guess. She was pointing the hand in wich she held the mic in the general direction of the audience.(or the front of the stage). After the show she was accused by at least one reviewer in a big finnish mag to have used  pre-recorded audience-singing. ( it sounded to perfect, the journalist wrote).I've never believed that. I'm sure it's not true. Maybe, and I hate to say it( being a diehard Lana fan), the Lana team " helped " the front rows with mics placed in front of the scene. But in that case they underestimated the Finns, they were not as quiet as rumour would have it. On the contrary they can be very loud( just go to a hockeygame). So they had to turn the volume down because Lana couldn't even hear herself. I'm guessing of course.

The fact that JG is (possibly maybe) about a stalkerish platonic obsession instead of an actual relationship doesn't make the song any less interesting for me; on the contrary, actually.
