Don’t worry, sweetie, you did no harm It’s a very accurate portait of 2020, sadly. But with everything going on, art can bring a bit of solace in these hard times. I honestly had no hopes for LDR7 before 2021, until the two posts that confirmed it. Unless she completely changes the direction of the album, I think it should be out in September. As for her « sales » and such, NFR was #3 it’s first week, but it’s doing fine on streaming platforms. NFR didn’t win the AOTY Grammy, so maybe her company is letting her handle it as she pleases?

WoW that was depressing to read. True, but depressing. I think the Sept 5 release will pull through. If she does a song named Quarantine Grenadine, you don’t release that very long after the quarantine. And it’s in September : a lot of things can happen until then. And Gaga just released Chromatica, I didn’t check her numbers, but people are talking about this record (mostly out of the US) even if the US are torn apart.

I might be connecting things that don’t need to be, but Ed mentioning she was from a liberal family / upbringing, and both siblings and father posting has me saying she posted “through them”. Trolls would come back at her no what she would post at the moment.
-
Both Charlie and Chuck posted about it on their IG stories.

I think she references the idea of “America” in the 60s, when everyone thought the American dream was possible, and when they were the most influential country in the world, growing and becoming richer. We know it was far from perfect and that there were a lot of issues even back then and that it came at a price (by exploiting other countries), but the general feeling was it was a great time, a great period if you were privileged enough to profit from that expansion.

I really think this is a stretch if you don’t mean it as a joke.

This is a very sensitive subject for everyone and the situation is touchy for her these days, to say the least. Yes, she could say something. Maybe she doesn’t comment because she doesn’t have all the facts? Let’s remember she did that on the whole Middle Eastern situation and she got a lot of backlash. Plus if she does have all the facts, and is enraged by the situation, imagine the comments she would receive even if her post was spot-on (“look who’s talking? The same bich who called out black women a week ago! The same woman who dated a fucking cop!”). I don’t know if not saying anything is a good strategy, I really don’t. And yes, it is a tragedy that modern country still has had racial persecution for more than 400 years. But I really think her recent antics and the reactions received stop her from doing anything: to be her, I wouldn’t want to return to the lion’s den.

I don’t comment much about her when it’s not her art involved because I feel it’s her own life. On the recent events, do American artists comment much on it / take a stand? I don’t follow any other artist than Lana, to be honest. It might have been mentioned earlier, but Sean is a cop and he said they were still friends... Can she take a stand without shading him? And it’s true that her shitty week with that now infamous post kinda was fucking bad timing.

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
GeminiLanaFan replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
I wonder if the Grammy « regret » not giving AOTY to NFR (probably not, but still), with the whole pandemic situation happening at the moment. Fuck It I love You and The Greatest kinda feel prophetic in a way: FIILY expresses how our modern way of living wanted more and that we were going to hit a wall, and TG expresses the loss of things passed, of the good things we used to have and that are now on hold. Not that I dislike Billie’s album, but in these times, NFR sure seems more profound than her record. -
Probably. She did the same, with the NFR pre-era. Only this time around, we still have NFR to listen to (I still love that album almost a year after its release) and we already have solid info about COCC.

I honestly don’t get what was the hype about the whole Larina thing or the whole « upsetting thing » about Marina unfollowing her. Sure, their early records have complementary themes, sure they were cute together, but I really don’t care who she hangs out with. I’d be curious to « spy » on her when she hangs out with Father John Misty, to hear what they have to say about anything, but it’s a distant curiosity. I never got that curiosity with Larina, nor do I get it with her « LA mom » friends like you like to call them.

Can't argue with that. She is uneven from one venue to the other. Sometimes, she's on top and other nights, not so much. I know she considers herself more of an «album singer» rather than a «live singer», but still. To her defense, doing festival tours sure doesn't help have the best volume to her voice, when these things are an orgy of singers or groups going one after the other with little to no time for audio adjustments that weren't predetermined in rehearsals.

I love the demos to most of the songs from LFL, but if the album had sounded like that, nobody except us would have listened to it (and we know that Interscope became very involved with LFL after the poor numbers of HM). It would have been a super airy project, but probably one lacking something.
-
Don't forget the singles' rating!!! We must have done that ten times each!! Oh and «scraphobia» («I'm sure she scrapped the whole album and is suicidal» «If she scrapped Cinnamon, I will kill the bich!») Awww the good times Amen, preach!!!!! I love LFL. True, it's not her best, but it came out at the right time for me, so of course I 'm fond of it.

The cover is a collage of a couple of songs, I guess: the water-boat theme of Mariners, the green lime of FIILY, LA is burning in The Greatest, the narcissist guy on NFR, the painted sky of NFR as well. The whole album screams «water» to it: emotional, ups and downs like waves, introspective. COCC sure has a «air feeling» to it, although I hope we do get the continuity «water feeling» to some tracks, or even the fire (only a theory of mine, where I can summarize all of her albums with one or two elements)

Kinda. I check the facts when she says something and exact dates and snippets are almost certain indicators of that thing happening when it’s supposed to. But other than those, I don’t get my hopes too high.

I do. HM is in my top 3 and I am one of the few that really like LFL (probably because I connected to it when it came out). LFL really is a summer pop-ish record, super diverse. It's perfect when my expectations of having the «summer of my life» have come and gone, and when I realize my life in July or August is pretty much the same as in the other seasons.
