  1. At this point, a nomination would be everything. The Grammies are a rigged game as we know it, most of the time. However, to see Lana be nominated for AOTY would prove not only that she is now a force to be reckoned with, but also that she has fully proved that she is not what the music industry thought she was at first : a depressed voiceless marketed product. Billie could be nominated for New Artist, no? If so, it's her category. AOTY? She might be too young and still too new to reward her with such a prestigious win. But I don't know: I used to follow the Grammies very thoroughly but now, not so much. It's really all about popularity and campaigning.
  2. TNBAR: probably was a tag for the record company not to mistake it with the demo?!?FIILY: the song has two productions. The one in the video has drums but the one on vinyls and Cd doesn’t as much.
  3. I'm gay and a bit older and I don't know how I feel about her acknowledging her LGBT+ fanbase. It's cool when singers are supporting that part of the fanbase (like Taylor does) and I love that there are role models for younger LGBT fans out there. It's not always easy, being different, and to have someone say you have every right to be who you are and to have them fully support you makes all the difference in the world. However, I always have «concerns» or ask myself if the artist is authentic when he/she releases a song that is specifically targeted towards LGBT fans. I can't help but ask if the feelings are sincere of if it is just a cheap ploy to make profit out of us (like so many clothing companies do in May). As for Lana, one of the things I love about her is that she doesn't do anything like the rest of female singers. As I said, I am a bit older and I'm much at ease with my sexuality and orientation, so I am more into living my life and telling my story... And I identify so strongly with Lana's narrative in her songs that I don't feel the need to have a «gay song» specifically. As for her mentioning her «gay fans» in interviews, I don't know why she seems to dodge the question. Maybe she doesn't want to say something stupid and out of the place (it"s hard saying anything these days on any subject without being criticized) ans be criticized for it afterwards.
  4. Her mood albums (UV-HM-NFR) truly form a holy trinity. I love that NFR is « its own thing » and not the lovechild of the two others.
  5. Not NFR related, but is there a theme song already for Maléficent 2? Since she said she was working on Alice, I keep wondering if that is the only « Disney » (I assume it’s Disney) project she is attached to.
  6. I kinda have a love-hate relationship with snippets this time around. I loved having them as teasers for both NFR and LFL. Plus she is good at what she is teasing: she never teases too much (even HIaB or Cinnamon Girl, we had a lot of the song and yet, it didn't feel like she had spoiled them). However, HTD was posted when it still was a demo and it took me many times to accept the new production. So, I prefer when she teases completely done tracks. However, with White Hot Forever, she said it'd be a surprise release: in my mind, it sounds like no snippets at all before release, or maybe one or two a couple of days prior.
  7. Wait until she releases the triple MV in October: this thread will jump again.
  8. Cinnamon Girl has «psychedelic» synths like VB and FIILY. Both of those tracks have drug references, and Cinnamon Girl has as well with the pills. But I see Cinnamon as a reference also for drugs... like Heroin, maybe?!? (I really am no expert on drugs other than pot, honestly, so I could totally be wrong) The song Golden Brown by the Stranglers is supposed to be about heroin, and I kinda saw a pattern with the color and cinnamon. That's why I don't think it's cinnamon in my tea, rather than «in my teeth», which works better for a dope reference.
  9. Her shitty taste in men has sure produced some fine art!
  10. The transition between the greatest and the last three tracks is amazing!!! Not only the song ends with piano and the others are piano-driven, but there’s also a subtle message: culture is done, I am « done »/ burn-out, let’s get back to basics, to simpler things. And Bartender has one the most beautiful storytelling of her career.
  11. Lana looks hot for sure... but the video in itself is nothing special IMO.
  12. At least we got that collab very near to NFR: imagine if it had been released this summer, in June, with no singles from the album (like we thought it would be at first, when we got the first snippet). We would have been fucking desperate for NFR in August
  13. It’s what I was expecting of the song... Not bad, not fantastic... But Lana’s sort is bigger that I thought and is the best part. Freak 2.0, love it!!!
  14. What?!?? They are both awesome! That user is also here and on YouTube (he makes great audio edits of her songs)I wonder what his sources are. If all of these are true, I am about to die!!! The National and Lana?!? Fuck me please!!! The Jesse collab is what I am dreaming of right now!
  15. I'm surprised about what I'm about to say, but I'm curious for the CA song now... Love NFR so much, but to hear her do some «lighter shit» (I replay Season fo the Witch a lot these days, plus the Jesse collab and her cover of Break Up With Your Girlfriend) is also welcomed. Don't think I'll replay the CA song very much, but I'm curious to hear her moan in the background and sing the three lines of the chorus lol.
  16. I was expecting something cute, like Love Song, since Jesse described the collaboration as «sweet». I fucking love the kitchy beat and her singing that she wants to be played with
  17. About the BBC performance: You said it all: she was not super well balanced. I liked that Doin Time was trippier, and it kinda works for her vocals to be lost in it all, but for a casual listener, they’ll say she has a shit voice.
  18. Arianators have said so last week..They’re usually not wrong
  19. Season of the Witch, maybe? There is a non-NFR track in her setlist (though it could be Doin Time, since everybody was sure she wasn’t going to include it on the album)
  20. I wonder if California was an exception or if there are other amazing tracks sleeping somewhere in her hard drive... If she says they were messy, imagine the level of messiness... She did cowrite a song for Miles'album, two years ago (Loaded)... That would be so awesome that one track or two of WHF was from that project / period.
  21. As much as I love Hey Blue Baby, wouldn't it be repetitive if she included it on White Hot Forever?!?! Another Jack-produced track where she says the guys is making her blue!?!?!
  22. She ignored all the questions on it... but I like it, honestly. We just got NFR, I don't trust the in 12-13 month release honestly, plus she said she wanted a surprise release. It would make sense for her not to mention almost anything else before the release.
