Doin Time is California beach fun, it could be stretched into the record. It's the transition with Love Song that will be interesting to hear. But you're right that its not a perfect fit for NFR.

You might be both right, actually, To me, in tone, RBFY doesn't belong to NFR because it's not «sad» enough... but it does have a piano-driven melody. Anyways, I thought for sure Yosemite had a better chance than BAR of ending up on NFR and well, I was wrong on that one. So you could be right. I just hope er get to hear it in full some day. Careful, hun. She posted that second snippet of it around December on her insta. She looks as if she is wondering what to do with it. In an interview (can't remember which), she did say that she had a writer's block at that same period. Its her meeting with Jack that changed that and began the NFR process. I really don't think RBFY was intended to be included on NFR when the concept took shape. No, I love both also. I think it's a good closer to the album. And Doin Time is just a very good bop. I'm not 100% sure it will transition well into Love Song, but it's one of her best covers. It's a bit light in tone in comparison to the rest of the album though.

Sorry, my bad! I remember some not knowing about Venice Beach just before VB came out and they were expecting a Salvarore 2.0. I thought it was the same. From the 30-second snippet, the melody of the piano was very strong and didn't need anything else than her voice. I guess the rest of the song is like that.

This era will go down in the archives as one of the longest and messiest ones for sure, but I'm just so fucking glad that she decided to release NFR before her poetry book.

I think the verses aren't that bad, but the chorus... God, she sounds so stoned and bored on that one. It could have been a very good song, but it needed rework. And I agree with you: Flipside should have been on all Deluxe versions of the album.

Indeed! Plus she does say in The Greatest (not 100% sure if it's that song or another one, I mix up the lyrics at this point) that California is on fire. The neon green is referenced in Fuck It I Love You. The guy is any man in her songs, I guess. Plus that album has so many surf elements to the production and would be an awesome listen by the ocean.

it's so gorgeous. Hell, we all feared that it was gonna be a damn selfie, but that cover shows work and references many elements of the album. To me, that cover is like the trailer we got for LFL: You really had to listen to the songs to get all the elements and the NFR cover is just that.

I read the lyrics to TNBAR. The tone of the new version is really «from the perspective of Lizzy» to me (which I love): I'm young, we're fun, we're making a record. The only thing lacking is the impotence references that were so smart on BAR, but hey, it's kinda my fault if I listened too often to that damn demo that the new version feels weird.

Well, it’s hard having principles lolHonestly, it’s kinda torture, to read all of your descriptions and not be able to comment because you haven’t been able to compare. The only leak I listened to was FIILY last week and it was such a bad quality that the song felt underwhelming. This album seems to be so much about a mix of major tones and minor tones that I’m afraid that I won’t get the whole experience if I go listen to the leaks. I can’t control anyone and I made my point as to why I don’t want leaks, and everyone is free to act as pleased, but all I hope is that you guys will stream the official HQ songs as often as you listened to them on that bad audio.

I don't expect her to say anything on the leak officially. But is she waiting to see if other leaks will come around with possible early deliveries of NFR (that kid on Saturday can't be the only one)? Was there something else planned for this week (the 2 singles and the MV)? Can she rush-release the damn album this week (Taylor will have her number 1 anyways no matter what she does)?

But the melodies are NFR stuck in my head plus some minor details in production made more sense after a couple of listens of FIILY or elements that I hadn't heard the first time.All of HM was like that for me: everything was such in minor mode that I didn't pick everything at first. All of Lana's album are grower, but I really think this one will be the definition of it. FIILY, at first, sounded a bit «too subtle» and yet, its melody is stuck in my mind and I only listened to it 3 times. And anyways, I must admit I wasn't that awed by Video Games the first time I heard it. So Love Song, from your comments, will probably be in that vein to me. Also: why did she rename Cinnamon to Cinnamon Girl? I read the lyrics and don't get it.

YES!!! Especially since everyone keeps saying that «Jack's production is building up to just not go anywhere» (I see that as subtle production like HM with a couple of major accents like UV and LFL)... You can't hear much of the subtleties in shitty quality... And even her voice mustn't come out as clear... I don't know. I get the impatience, I sure am super impatient to hear the damn thing for real, but to have that as my first listen? Im gonna pass. Have you read the lyrics on Genius? (I didn't hear the leak like I said, but read the lyrics of the songs) It seems super sad.

Lana is erratic and unreliable when she is making a record for sure. It's a part of creation. However, there are a couple of things we can trust her on: when the record is done and she says a date multiple times (like she did in June and July), it happens. and like I said a million times already TO THE EXCEPTION OF ROSES BLOOM FOR YOU (WHICH SHE SAID WOULD NOT END UP ON LFL), ALL THE SONGS SHE TEASED WITH A SNIPPET ENDED UP ON AN ALBUM.

Nobody said anything... however, Spotify began advertising both singles as early as Tuesday or Wednesday, Google Play released The Greatest Thursday and her own YouTube channel posted for a brief minute FIILY at midnight Friday. it's now safe to assume that both singles were set to be released last Friday and Saturday, but plans changed.

I know she wasn’t illegal by having an Instagram account. Anyone can have one. And I know how a teenager’s brain works when it comes to judgement. When I was questioning is the fact that kids have Instagram accounts or any social media account if they don’t know what the consequences can be for being so impulsive. That girl sure is an example of that. She got way more than she bargained for, with her cassette.
