True but her caption makes me believe she is done with the album: her naming her producers and the number of tracks being mentioned. LFL era, when asked in interview about the album, she said it had currently 18 tracks at the end of May and nFR era, she never mentioned the number of tracks when she went live on Insta in December prior to the release, when she said the album had been mastered. but hey, I guess the lead single and the preorder will finally put us out of our miseries

Two reasons I see to that: six months for vinyls to get pressed and Gaga releasing her album in February. So, earliest the album could come out could be March, but it’s probably too close to Gaga’s (both are with Interscope and the label will want both of them to have a chance to have big releases). That being said, I don’t believe in May 21, but somewhere in May does make sense.

It was Dec 8 and I think it was a Wednesday. Singles can be released any day (although labels prefer a Friday release to get the whole streaming numbers concentrated in the first week) but albums are rarely released any other day than Fridays (unless nobody cares about the numbers and charting).

Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I don’t expect a single on Friday but December would be nice or January-February realistically

Bah I like the title, it reflects where she is right now (in her marital bliss - or at least we think what the song will be about) I probably don’t mind The right person will stay since Father John Misty’s latest is called Mahashmashana and is on heavy repeat on my phone right now: although it’s weird AF, the title track is just so sublime and encapsulates the LP perfectly.

Im just so grateful for yesterday’s announcement: when we all thought it was just about her UK / Ireland shows (which are great but I can’t attend those, so… ) she resuscitated Henry and Lasso

Honestly, I wasn’t that thrilled about Did you know there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd at first (that one was a mouthful) but after a couple of listens of the track and in the context of the album, it’s iconic I already prefer The right person will stay to Lasso, although Lasso had grown on me. As for the singles before end of year, I guess they were planned back then in August, but it seems this was before she took a pause from the LP. Eclipse saying the album was mixed in September, and her stating there are 13 tracks indicates the album is done and it’s way easier to plan ahead with a somewhat « more solid » release date (even if it’s a Wednesday )

I must say that neither the « cover » or title give Southern gothic vibes, but I had been expecting it tbh: she never was very good at describing her music. Not wrong just not to the full scope of things

I really dont think it’s the actual cover, just like she did with BB. We’re almost six months away from the (supposed) release : she’ll want to edge us a little bit as time goes by, by releasing things one at the time. The cover will probably come later, with the second single. I must say though that I’m very surprised by this turn of events: a single post clarified A LOT (the timeline of the two singles, Henry not being scrapped, and being the lead, the producers and number of tracks…)

Taste! chloe was an attempt at something different, but Drew’s orchestral arrangements truly are magical on this album and feel like they « click more » than on Chloe. The title track, my gawd!!!! mahashmashna does feel like it’s a mix of ILY, HB, the grand texts of Pure Comedy and the orchestras of Chloe.

Probably my fave from him.

AOTY: Mahashmashana by Father John Misty. Probably my song of the year as well. but there are many close ones: Hit Me Hard and Soft, X’s by Cigarettes After Sex, Romance by Fontaines D.C. Its honestly been an incredible year for music
