Bah I don’t worry too much about the wait yet: 2025 is already starting with two projects I’m excited for (Ethel Cain and fka twigs) and there’ll surely be a couple of side projects in the meantime regarding Lana. And I wasn’t super thrilled with country but some Southern gothic elements, I’m all here for I still wish Zodiac will be released as a standalone single to tie Ocean Blvd and LDR10

We did get WHF and RCS, but now that I think about it, the only times we do get a Lana project on time is when it’s for a soundtrack or when she is collaborating with another artist on their album

To me, it seems like she recorded country songs here and there but nothing ever was as clear as making a country album. Like she could have pulled that final idea just before going on stage at that industry event As much as I’d want those, I’m telling myself if it’s music, it’s not going to be a full album.

I find the melody cute. But the supposedly bridge is a bit flat Like how can this song carry on for three or four minutes?

This would be the best case scenario. Any music actually would be. All I hope is that it’s just not some « fashion » or perfume collab: cool for you, girls, but as a guy, this brings nothing except maybe cute photos that aren’t what I’d call « exciting » for me.

Im glad im not as invested as i used to, passed eras. The Henry snippet didn’t make me anxiously impatient, same with the announcement, thank fucking God. The piano is gorgeous on Zodiac. As for the lyrics, like you said, they are very grim and dark, but the « Purify me » line of the chorus is just so addictive and is subject to interpretations. It’s also a beautiful homage to the Zodiac victims. A&W wasn’t that easy to connect with for me, but ended up connecting to some lyrics, so I guess I’d do the same with Zodiac. It’s the lq we have that bugs me a lot haha

The genre is featured across many mediums like movies, theatre and music. Basically, from from I read about, it’s all about living in the south of the USA, including all that is weird, bizarre, dark and forbidden. Criminality, witchcraft, malformed beings, the world of the spirits, satanic cults, religious themes could all be on said songs (and the most « extreme » themes). It can also be about forbidden sexuality, family lines, tight-knit communities, small-town vibes, going to church, etc. I don’t know any other artist who is Southern Gothic except Ethel Cain like you mentioned (I really like her but can’t bring myself to listen to all of her songs, some are way too dark for me But Preacher’s Daughter has some amazing tracks that aren’t too dark) If the rumour is true, Zodiac being very dark in tone could be a great transition between OB and Lasso (if it’s coming at some point haha).

This is so sad when someone so young dies, especially in those circumstances. TMZ didn’t have to share pictures of his body but they’re the only « media » who shared more details surrounding the death. All other media are simply stating that he fell from the balcony, which is suspicious to say the least. such a tragedy.
