    Song vs. Song

born to die vs. last girl on earth
  2. it's a reference to put the radio on "i love you lots, polka dots of desire in your thoughts"
  3. we'll never have another artist like her... it's basically a poem, and it mentions methamphetamines, flamingos, coney island, jersey shore, and a lot of mentions of "blue" that undeniably add to the song's beautifully melancholic feel, blue fifty's queen, blue oyster cove, blue fifty's song it's so lizzy grant, not to mention it's lo-fi quality, and the random soundbytes of elvis i will cherish her for all eternity... and the fact it morphed into old money.... imagine a laptop demo of old money similar to sweetheart and connection, it would be such a monumental moment
  4. maybe you can cut out just lana and make some sort of collage? or maybe you could add some to a scrapbook/photobook if you have anything like that also, no, i don't think it's weird at all, i have a corkboard covered with mostly photos of lizzy grant, toppled off with fake hibiscuses and kitschy keychains
  5. or, maybe, she can keep making awesome songs like candy necklace, ocean boulevard, buddy's rendezvous, and let the light in... and not let herself be overshadowed by billie eilish and phoebe bridgers also... i don't know what you mean by boomer music... a lot of great music came out of the 50s, 60s, and 70s... maybe you're just automatically associating old with boring

jump vs. raise me up (mississippi south)
  8. fun fact... during the lizzy grant era, somebody (i don't remember if it was somebody reviewing her music/live show, or somebody who knew her) described her as a mix between leonard cohen and marilyn monroe
  9. definitely planning on discovering his discography one day! one of the many classic, iconic artists i need to get into

  12. publications will say ANY random album is a top album or album of the year just because it's popular or trendy... it's hard to ignore them, because they do reflect how our current society/media views and critiques art... so i feel like it would be silly for me to say that we should just ignore them, i feel like we have the right to complain about it, never complaining or having strong opinions results in nothing changing, or at least, nothing being expressed, and i think it's good and even healthy to express our thoughts, opinions, complaints, whatever it may be i honestly feel like nowadays, publications, media outlets, or even just individual people/critics are just afraid of having opinions or being seen as negative or pretentious, but not every album that's popular is great or worthy of being labeled an album of the year
  13. i believe so, i don't wanna go was recorded in 2012, possibly for paradise, and lake placid seems to be the tropico/LDR3 version, i'm pretty sure you can see lake placid listed on that tropico tracklist she wrote on a piece of paper that you can barely see
  14. i'm vouching for... (i like this one as well, it's sassy )
  15. she would tell me... to stay passionate, and follow my dreams
  16. i wouldn't be surprised if never let me go was produced by somebody else, not steven mertens, obviously that had to come from somewhere, but it just doesn't really make much sense, everything produced by steven mertens was recorded in 2007 as far as we know, it just doesn't seem likely she would randomly produce one random song with him, an ex-boyfriend, at that, in 2010, especially since she was likely living in london at the time and steven mertens was more likely than not still in the states, i believe his name may have been included on a registration of the song... possible a mistake, a misunderstanding, or maybe he was somehow involved in the song but not in the way that we think? perhaps he was added as a writing credit, but i suppose it's still a bit of a mystery...
  17. here's my opinion... fordham road and money hunny - 2006 (no evidence to suggest they're from 2005, and they both first appeared on her myspace in summer of 2006) your band is all the rage - 2009 (it distinctly sounds like a 2009 laptop demo to me) 4th of july - 2007 (purely speculative since it samples the david kahne demo of put me in a movie which was likely done in 2007, but we don't know that for sure) bentley and crooked cop - 2007 (although i wouldn't be surprised if crooked cop is from a different year) 1949, come when you call me a.m.e.r.i.c.a, c u l8r alligator, elvis, jesus is my boyfriend, roll with me (on the radio) - 2008 coca cola - july of 2008 (i believe coca cola was uploaded to one of her myspace accounts so i believe that date has to be real) dance for money - june of 2008 (uploaded to her myspace) every song you listed in the 2008/2009 category i believe are from 2009, although it's hard to really know for sure with songs that haven't leaked since we don't have all of the information about them, or know exactly what they sound like hundred dollar bill (final version) - 2009, it has to be since she uploaded the music video in november of 2009 every song you listed in the 2010 category i believe are from 2010 hangin' around - i personally believe it's from 2009, but that's just my opinion and it's purely speculative joshy and i - i'm pretty sure that's from 2011 besides those two, every other song in the 2010/2011 category i believe are from 2011 earthquakes and lake placid - i believe them to be from 2013 not sure about sugary sweet, but i feel like the general consensus was that it was from 2017, but that might not be true, perhaps more information will come out about it at some point it's important to remember that there's a lot we ultimately don't know and trying to figure out what year a song might be from, especially one that's older and we don't have much information on, is based on speculation, sometimes it's easy to tell what year it may be from because of the sound, lyrical style, or vocal style, but we can't be sure we're right, i think it's best to just go with the general consensus for the most part, sometimes it doesn't make sense and should be questioned (like methamphetamines being 2006... i never believed that honestly!) but for the most part, it makes sense
  18. considering that majority of her fanbase (still) think of her music as drugs and depression sugar daddy music, i'd say you're spot-on
