Norman Fucking Rockwell - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

Might seem stupid but does the partial sentence case stylising of the Norman Fucking Rockwell tracklist bother anybody else? I know it became a trend in 2018 for artists to go lower case, like Billie Eilish (don't smile at me and WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?) and Ariana Grande (Sweetener and thank u, next) seem to do now. But the sentence case just looks messy, both Norman Fucking Rockwell and Halsey's Manic do this... The lack of punctuation in Fuck it I love you bothers me too! I'd much prefer it to look like this so it kinda matches her other records when in playlists etc. 01. Norman Fucking Rockwell 02. Mariners Apartment Complex 03. Venice Bitch 04. Fuck It, I Love You 05. Doin' Time 06. Love Song 07. Cinnamon Girl 08. How To Disappear 09. California 10. The Next Best American Record 11. The Greatest 12. Bartender 13. wait has it been shelved? or is it just postponed cos of the pandemic and the quarantine album? i was so ready for that album, she better not do this! but yeah, she really had something between 2016 and 2017, it all felt very rich and thought through, like Number 1 Angel is a stellar project! considering that was a mixtape preceeding the album. i wonder if it is the autotune usage? cos obviously she's been using it since late 2015 but the vocals on Vroom Vroom and Number 1 Angel are still quite raw and emotive. even xcx world is the same. whereas Pop 2 saw her turn into robot Charli and it's been like that for the majority since? i think production wise everything got a bit noisier and messier after Pop 2 too, like more experimental. but the early PC projects she did were still kinda mainstream.

I really didn't like it when it first came out, however I revisited it lately and switched a few songs around and I found it much more enjoyable! It was refreshing after Femme Fatale and Britney Jean both being EDM influenced (and Britney Jean was underwhelming anyways). But yeah, definitely not her best. It was nice to have her personality shine through again though. Anyways here's how I listen to it lately... 01. Invitation 02. Make Me... [ft. G Eazy] 03. Private Show 04. Clumsy 05. Do You Wanna Come Over? 06. Man On The Moon 07. If I'm Dancing 08. Slumber Party 09. Just Luv Me 10. Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) 11. Love Me Down 12. Liar 13. Just Like Me 14. Mood Ring 15. Coupure Electrique

-

If anything harassing other people for Charli music is worse! She already said back in 2017 her reputation in the industry was damaged due to the leaks; people were wary of working with her cos so much stuff was leaked. Having her fans beg producers and other artists for songs they've done with her is just bad. And at the end of the day it wouldn't affect us but it could potentially risk her relationship with that person. Putting them off working with her in the future cos there's an added pressure of if we don't release the Charli collab her fans will bother us until we do... Which could also put off other people who she's yet to work with. Just enjoy the leaks we have and the new music she's making and releasing officially! As a fan base we are incredibly lucky that she gives us so much but some seem to misinterpret that and think we have the right to abuse the boundaries.
-
Or maybe our energy should be focused on the new music she's making and releasing instead of harassing her / her producers for unreleased tracks, when we know it bothers her
-
why is this Paris Hilton meets Grimes?
-
Definitely! I adore Nightmare and Experiment On Me, so when she teased a side project in that vein I was beyond excited. Hoping we even get an EP or mixtape sometime this year with that soundscape

Wow, I am loving Be Kind! She really can't do no wrong this era... I know I said in an earlier post that I wasn't the biggest fan of Manic as a project, however, it hit me last night and I am stunned. 01. Nightmare 02. clementine 03. Graveyard 04. Forever ... (is a long time) 05. Dominic's Interlude 06. I HATE EVERYBODY 07. 3am 08. Without Me 09. Alanis' Interlude 10. You should be sad 11. More 12. killing boys 13. SUGA's Interlude 14. Finally // beautiful stranger 15. 929 16. Still Learning 17. Ashley 18. wipe your tears 19. I'm Not Mad That's how I listen to it but wow, what an album!

I really wish they'd put out Number 1 Angel as an album in 2017, with a singles run (Dreamer, 3am etc), music videos and promotion etc. Then follow that up with Pop 2 in early 2018. Maybe just one single (Out Of My Head) from Pop 2 and then she could've continued with the monthly drops between albums. True Romance (2013), SUCKER (2014), Vroom Vroom (2016), Number 1 Angel (2017), Pop 2 (2018), Charli (2019), how i'm feeling now (2020)
-
So it kinda seems like the Manic era is over now... I would've loved for another single but hey-ho. This era has to have been her best singles run, not one song I would change. Without Me, 11 Minutes (with YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker), Nightmare, Graveyard, You Should Be Sad, Experiment On Me, The Other Girl (with Kelsea Ballerini) and Be Kind (with Marshmello) If there was a final single from the album what would you choose? I'd go More or maybe 3am
-
XCX World is overrated lets be honest. It would've killed her career and that's that.
-
honestly though, their entire singles run is flawless Forever Don't Save Me Falling The Wire If I Could Change Your Mind My Song 5 Want You Back Little Of Your Love Nothing's Wrong Walking Away Summer Girl Now I'm In It Hallelujah The Steps I Know Alone they're weirdly all unique yet cohesive? what a greatest hits that'd be already
-
ugh it'll piss me off so so much when Party 4 U is track 10 and 7 Years is track 3... however, right now i'm really wanting Forever to be either the opening or closing track. It would make sense as both; opening as the first song she did for the project and the start of this journey, closing cos of the lyrical content and outro.

So, with the current pandemic it seems like we won't be getting a Lover Tour, I imagine her next tour will be a greatest hits show (to coincide with the album re-recordings) or for her next album campaign. So it got me thinking and what we could expect from a Lover Tour or what we'd want. This is what I came up with... 01. ME! 02. Gorgeous 03. London Boy 04. Death By A Thousand Cuts 05. Delicate 06. All Too Well 07. Blank Space 08. The Man 09. You Need To Calm Down 10. Shake It Off 11. Cruel Summer 12. All You Had To Do Was Stay 13. Out Of The Woods 14. So she's confirmed older material will appear on the album, Stuck (one of the leaks) and Refill (a 2010 demo) are confirmed. In a recent interview she repeatedly referred to the album as a compilation and apologised to fans in her livestream that the older leaks came out early... Hinting at the possibility that final versions of the leaks will also appear on the album. Bossy has finally been made available to stream worldwide too. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes an appearance on the record, even as a bonus track (like Rumors on Speak). She confirmed to Andy Cohen that Xanax is the second single from the album and she hopes to do a double music video for it and Back To Me, calling them a double A-side. But yeah, to answer my own question, I'm guessing this project is gonna be a collection of songs she's recorded from 2008 til now. Confirmed songs: 01. Back To Me 02. Refill 03. Stuck 04. Xanax Potential songs: 01. Bossy 02. Can't Stop (Won't Stop) 03. I Wanna Be Bad - she teased this song the most between 2008 and 2010, using it on her TV appearances and behind the scenes at photoshoots. 04. Stay 05. Too Young To Die In an interview in 2010 she said Walka Not A Talka was her favourite song from the upcoming album but since Mya officially released it, I doubt we'll get Lindsay's version on the album.

She's made another album, which was due to be released in September that is inspired by Janet Jackson... I genuinely think that's all there is to it aha
