Every "mmm", "hmm" or other kind of moan in any song. Except the one at the beginning of "Blue Velvet".

This is a GREAT thread topic <3 I have dozens and dozens and dozens of these moments. This is the kind of shit i live for. I’ll come back later with a list of moments, but...

YES YES YES! Well said. This is my #1 moment too! I wrote about it once on LDR.FM, how that part is otherworldly, on another level entirely. I sincerely believe that it’s one of the best moments in pop music of the last, oh, 15 years. MM is what i use to first introduce my friends to Lana.

I’m honestly really terrible when it comes to harmonic theory and analysis, so i’m not exactly sure what’s going on there. She’s obviously changing the melody of the chorus, but there’s more going on. I used to think the song changed keys there from its home key of D minor, but now i realize there’s no modulation there, she’s just flatting the fifth (in this case the A become an A flat) which makes a tritone (the interval that was once viewed as the devil in music, its use prohibited by the church!) and creates some diminished harmonies, introducing some really nice dissonance. That’s as much as i can tell you, if you know theory at all this tells you almost nothing, and if you don’t know theory, then this tells you nothing at all. Any musicians here? Anyway, this section is FUCKED and totally, totally, totally, totally, totally brilliant. Sitar, to say that it sounds “turned inside out” is a very keen and intuitive observation because the tritone is the most unstable interval in music and is always looking to resolve; it's used mostly to create musical tension before a release/resolve.

Let’s start a petition for Lizzy to work with Kahne again even though she probably doesn’t want to! Give Emile the boot!

    YES.

Highest note she's hit on record, i believe. Lana enters the false register.

When Lana says, "She says you don't want to be like me, don't want to see all the things I've seen"

I love that too. But also in the demo a capella version
Yo she looks animated like a cartoon baby
with her champagne sighs and her cocaine high

    Tingles right there.

brings me to tears she sounds so angelic. i loved those three nights idk i think her performance live was the best.
the end of million dollar man when she says "so why is my heart broke ? i don't know.."

    body electric in hackney.

(and almost all of her pre-lana songs, they just have a different vibe that i love)

oh and the demo of diet mtn dew the verse which she says "hit me my darling tonight, i dont know why but i like it.."

This song means a lot to me. I hold this and Trash Magic close to my heart

I think this song is easily the most beautiful thing she's ever done. Lyrically it's just so vivid and yet hazy, like a half-forgotten Polaroid. And the production is so simple, and yet so powerful. Not to mention the trip-hop influences. Just....wow. Songs like this are why I fell for Lana in the first place.

I'm sorry, but...  most of stuff out of Paradise, especially Ride.
I don't fully get the appeal of the songs. I think that Gods and Monsters is the best out of them, but it's still far from being my favourite.
Those songs are not bad, they just miss the little something that made National Anthem, Off to the races and Born to Die brilliant.
I miss Born To Die style songs...

Omg Blue jeans is my most played song not my fave but it doesn't deserve THAT MUCH h8

    Other than that

Bel Air is beautiful yeah but boring sometimes
    Born to Die
    Serial Killer
    Hollywood
Oh Say Can You See I even forget it exists
    Daddy Issues
Midnite Dancer Girlfriend — Crooked Cop it's better and that one is so underrated

It's the song that deserved a video the most out of all the songs from Paradise. It's actually the best song from Paradise and it's one of her favourites, if not her favourite. I refuse to believe that it's not happening until I hold her new album in my hands.
Wait...what if she pulls a radar and release it as a single from her next album? :holyshit:

Your fixation on a "Cola" video is really almost pathological, isn't it?

  15. demiannn liked a post in a topic by Lad in LANA SLEUTHING
I found out that Penny Foster has a song called 'Hit and Run" and I was like "mmm maybe it's lana's one?" but lana isnt credited on it. I searched and it's on a 2003 EP by her called Beautiful Mistake that is nowhere to be found...

Maybe it's from the same sessions that she had w Lana and they actually mixed lyrics? cuz we know that Criminals Run the World is a Hit & Run rough demo and changes lyrics (Idk if they change that much tho #LeakCriminals )

EDIT: Oh, apparently there's another Diet Mountain (Not MTN, MOUNTAIN) Dew produced by Crispin Hunt. It's registered and written with him (not mike daly) so probs new lyrics?

Used a twitter search engine to find the oldest tweets of Lizzy Grant

best find was probably a new LQ photo/screencap? from the National Underground @@evilentity

Apparently @ShawnMSmith (the guy who reviewed the show on Exile) thought she was hot...

    1:34 AM - 25 Oct 2008
-- Which opens up the biggest lana mystery. Were they waiting for tacos or burritos?

This tweet by @MarkGhuneim says he was listening to an advanced copy of the EP by August 2008. Mark was a part of Wiredset which was the force behind the viralness of the Kill Kill video,.

I listened to that bit again and I did hear "vodka".

But then I looked at the sound file and listened to it over and over until I heard p-p-pepsi and finally I did. When she says p-p(k)-pep-si, the snare is a little off sync so it's really distracting but there is definitely a p sound there since there are two peaks in the sound file. One for the p and one for the snare.

But I don't want to pay money for someone else to hear it.

We know. Just keep listening to Born to Die and nothing else and we'll carry on
  22. demiannn liked a post in a topic by evilentity in Possible Albums Before Sirens
Don't misunderstand. If we raise the money, someone would be able to go and listen to the recordings at the US Copyright Office. I highly doubt that person would be able to make a copy. The whole purpose of the office is to protect copyrighted material. But hopefully whoever we send would be allowed to take copious notes. The most we could hope for is for someone to report back with a track listing, full transcriptions of the lyrics, descriptions of the songs, and perhaps some photos. And one lucky person will have been able to hear it.

ZOMG! It looks like there is a way for someone to hear these (they would not be able to copy them), but it would cost $165.
