  1. a true queen of bridges, but the moment where I had my breath taken away was this performance of TLY.
  2. Do you own a personal site/blog? Yes, sort of. I used to write very mean reviews on theatre shows for a blog, and I'm working on a website at the moment for my shows. Do you own a games console? Which one, and what games?

    Song vs. Song

    Cherry Blossom vs Carmen
  4. Could you please link to them here? I am curious to read (not about the response to Tropico, but to this announcement).
  5. Can you stop being so inflammatory on every post you make? You've said that you find her wearing a shirt style as problematic, and some people have disagreed. You don't need to post a mocking response to disregard logical responses - we know you disagree on the basis that you posted the original comment.
  6. Spotify actually tags most of the albums which are audiobooks (on the actual app)! It's just above the title. For example: https://open.spotify.com/album/47TjPJHrNcFZi8G8uBuClE?si=j47KwX-fT9yYOwniUeyPDg Just search 'Audio books' and more will pop up (although technically they appear under 'Albums').
  7. Hi everyone! I made an FAQ which I think includes everything people are asking about. Let me know if anything should be added! http://lanaboards.com/index.php?/blog/356/entry-1330-violet-bent-backwards-over-the-grass-faq/
  8. Just got this cute email: https://zaphod.vvhp.net/viewemail?con=24465726&cmp=16820&act=731144&subj=0&sec=1333663ec8d5&webversionpage=1
  9. To everyone asking about how the trial works, it's quicker for you to just Google your answer. The answer is yes, you keep it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202162240#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20any%20remaining,Library%2C%20even%20without%20a%20membership. And here are some users verifying that: https://www.reddit.com/r/audible/comments/7bzx3t/if_i_download_a_book_using_the_free_trial_then/
  10. Ugh I came into this thread because Elle's giant wall of red text indicated there was going to be some deLicious dRama, but it's actually people just being mean about her weight.
  11. Fun! Looking forward to results. Awkward, because my life is a joke
  12. Ah yeah, they're still on the landing page (lanadelrey.com) but they're not on the Homepage (lanadelrey.com/homepage/).
  13. The distinction is so finite lol, words are being thrown around with microscopic distinction so I will clarify as best I can. The 'audio book' will have music from Jack. There will not be a release of Lana speaking poetry without music. It's classified as an 'audio book', as it is an audio recorded body of work of her upcoming published book. Audio books do often have music accompanying them, here are some examples. But technically this isn't a 'spoken word album', as this project was conceived as a book first and then an abridged* audio book version was created (although hilariously in this condition, the opposite way around). For all intents and purposes you could refer to it as 'audio book', 'spoken album', 'poetry album' - they are all interchangeable, but for listings on Amazon, iTunes etc it's going to promoted to GP as the 'audio book'. All things which I'm sure will be eligible for 'Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album'. *also to complicate the terminology further . . . the 'audio book' is going to be classified as 'Unabridged' despite the original release only having 13 poems instead of the 30.
  14. Yes! I just posted this in the digital thread so here it is again incase it gets missed . . -- Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is a book, which is going to have two releases. The accompanying record is going to be spoken extracts from the book - the important distinction is you should consider this an audio book and not a spoken word album. The first release is an abridged audio-book version, which contains 14 selected poems read by Lana, with music accompanied by Jack. It's coming out digitally on 28 July 2020, and will run at 33 minutes long. Vinyl and CD has just been announced and will be released 2 October 2020. Pre-order the audio book here. Pre-order the physical CD/vinyl here. The second release is a physical, hardcopy version of the book. It contains 30 poems, many of which are "exclusive to the book". It's coming out 29 September 2020, and is 112 pages long. In addition as per the publisher note: "This beautiful hardcover edition showcases Lana’s typewritten manuscript pages alongside her original photography. The result is an extraordinary poetic landscape that reflects the unguarded spirit of its creator." Pre-order the digital/Kindle edition. Pre-order the physical edition.
  15. "original photography" MOVE OVER, CHUCK! There's a new photographer in town.
  16. I'm unsure who I'm writing this for (myself?) but to be clear: Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is a book, which is going to have two releases. The accompanying record is going to be spoken extracts from the book - the important distinction is you should consider this an audio book and not a spoken word album. 17. ugh about time. Well I just pre-ordered the physical copy! It was $40, and has 112 pages apparently.

The bass on this album is HEAVY. I can't wait for the Cedric Gervais remix.
  19. Ben saw this comment and HATES it. Also . . . hi Ben, ya teeny snack.
  20. Sure sure, those are definitely bad aspects that I didn't even bother addressing because they are obviously just . . . bad. My previous post is focusing on her stage name (which I quoted) because we're rapidly transitioning into a world where vocabulary is increasingly being scrutinised and its appropriateness is being reconsidered. I'm drawing attention to the hypocrisy overlooked by many of our users on Lanaboards by throwing around words - in this instance, for someone equating Lana 'del Rey' as being inappropriate and then sprinkling 'sis' on top seems counterproductive considering we're now supposed to be calling out cultural appropriation, yes? And another thing - understanding the origin doesn't mean that excuses the use. The groan-inducing saying 'Let's have a pow-wow' comes to mind, which work places think is a GROOVY way of saying meeting but in reality is never okay and is deeply awkward for everyone.
  21. If you are offended by the use of the name 'Lana del Rey' then you may want to consider stopping using the word 'sis' as it was revolutionized and claimed by the queer Black community.
  22. Your insinuation is really insulting. I'm unsure how serious you're being but you can't assume people's ethnicities - while people look 'white' in their photos she might have black friends who are white passing or are CALD. If you think that she is simply having a person of colour in her friend group to patch up the global backlash, then you might need to ask yourself what kind of discourse you're trying to find and what does it say about you if you think diversity solely sits with skin colour. Lana hasn't personally posted this content (at least not on any of the channels I can see) - so who exactly do you think she is trying to impress if it's not even coming from her? Also, Lana has black friends, off the top of my head the most prominent is that we know she highly values both her professional and personal relationship with her dancers Alex and Ashley (who are at this party in the photos). It wasn't tokenistic when she made that (awful) NFR trilogy video and that (pointless) album cover which were not well received because it was just her bumbling around laughing with her friends - do you think she also made that just to prove she wasn't racist? How do you know she doesn't hang out with black people? Let's also consider the next set of problems - do you know the personal situations behind all her friends? You mention that black people are never at these parties - but who is organising all these get-togethers? Have all her friends been free all the time or invited? Are some people respecting social distancing properly and more than her? Do her friends all live in the same place? Does she have the same ratio of black and white friends? Have people been photographing all her hang-outs? Like . . . what are you even saying? TL;DR - skin colour is an important element of diversity and representation, but if it's considered the only thing then you're actually being tokenistic also.
  23. True, but at least she used a double negative. He probably ain't not not no feminist too!
