  1. Also confirmed. It will span a few octaves and really explores timbre and pitch in a way that all her other records touched on, but in her own style. Apparently at times it will dip into some tones that people might consider jazzy.
  2. If you all got excited about the picture of a guitar, you're going to love what my insider contact has told me about the other instruments. Drums are CONFIRMED
  3. Lana said Cola was 'inspired by' a Harvey Weinstein impresario figure, not explicitly about him. Think of it in a simlar way in her music she says that "Bill" and "Jim" are her lovers, but they're not explicitly about any particular Bills and Jims in her life. https://www.nme.com/news/music/lana-del-rey-harvey-weinstein-cola-2155455
  4. I wrote something about this here! http://lanaboards.com/topic/12428-minor-general-questions-that-dont-deserve-their-own-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1294633
  5. How low is the bar for Billie to win with that song. when will people be over her? I am a Hater.
  6. These three mean so much to me ......... narrowed it down to one lol
  7. I've moved the discussion about pregnancy to the Random Lana Discussion thread, I would suggest you think twice about continuing the conversation though. Use the report function to report posts you find unacceptable. Thank you.
  8. I liked the choreography.
  9. I was waiting to crack this out in another simulator (cc: @the ocean) but the scandal here was too great
  10. @the ocean this is probably the most complete list so far that you can integrate into yours. Since @Davis hasn't visited since 2012 I will add a final list into the top page for reference.
  11. I just had a first listen and I immediately love the song. For comparison, when I first heard Hunger (one of my favourite FATM songs of all time) I woke up to listen to it and like "um whatever" and fell back asleep. It grew on me, whereas this really hit me with the impact of hearing album v. Patricia first time. And for reference, I'm firmly in the HBHBHB and HAH being her best and most cohesive albums. The song feels like a perfect bridging between the discography - it starts with the stripped-back HAH, before moving to HBHBHB grandness and then finally finishing with those delicate guitars and harp that what made FATM's unique sound (I feel like harp is the soul of FATM but I am still recovering for the lack of it on HBHBHB). I love the drum strikes on "KING" and then the bridge the drop has everything going for it. Her vocal delivery is nuanaced and then powerful, and the beat is so fabulously full of tension. The lyrics are brilliant too, I haven't had time to properly process them but they seem fiercely self-empowering and also deeply introspective. Two parts jumped out are the sections where she sang about needing to be wearing a costume to feel like someone ("I was never as good as I thought I was"), and then needing props (a bloody sword, golden crown and an empty house for her mythology). It really feels like a reiteration that people can be themselves and have full creative lives without needing to stand behind a man. It ties in really nicely to the video too, especially of the floating musicians - symbolically perhaps of her among the male dominated field which she is taking charge of? Now the VIDEO - one of my favourites for sure. It has the mythological vibe, evoking her as Lamiae and devouring foolish men who think they can dominate her. I am loving her collaborations with INCREDIBLE choreographers - Ryan Heffington has done so much iconic work and it's so much better than just flouncing around hoping for the best like other artists sometimes do. When Florence did Lover to Lover it was a huge departure from flashy costumes and faux-drama - comparing this video to Never Let Me Go is like night and day. It feels like 'grown up' Florence, not suffocating under drama but presenting interesting ideas but still with a flair of theatricality. As a side note I dind't really like Autumn de Wilde's work on Emma but I think it's so important that women were in charge of this project, and the collaboration here is outstanding since the results and fucking awesome!!! I'm so excited for the new album! I don't want to bring Lana into this so I will just say I can't wait to hear Jack return to the kind of flawless work that was Masseduction. I AM KING
  12. This is TOO MUCH. I'm also in
  13. I need the tea - what happened to Isa's solo album? Is she still producing outside FATM? I thought she stepped back so she could produce her own work but I haven't heard anything since . . ? I know she worked on Little Fires Everywhere to a big success but it feels like everyone has forgotten about this!

  21. awww shit he's coming for us, just like the legends foretold.
  22. The weird intro is actually just a slowed down, reversed audio of the guitar loop. Surprise! This isn't confirmed or anything but I believe it's there to prevent copyright detection. The function of adding it means that it extends the track duration which foils auto-detection based on track duration, and additionally distorts the sound so that YouTube (or whatever site hosted) doesn't detect it. This isn't as common now but when YouTube first became a thing it used to just automatically delete all tracks that were copyrighted, and then there was a big shift on legislation that allowed tracks to be used if they weren't monetised and the label allowed it or if it was for educational or personal use. Because of this taking a while to kick in, a lot of albums that came out during the 2010s with bonus regionally locked tracks that were shared on YouTube often used these wacky methods to bypass detection so they could all be enjoyed. For example, I don't know if it was intentionally done on Fine China but there is a like some 'traffic' sound effects that play which would be there to avoid detection. Other tracks have like a minute of silence before they start, some songs like Prom Song change pitch etc. The Flipside on YouTube that runs for 5:23 is also slightly slowed down to draw it out a little more - it's subtle but still enough to be noticable. So why does this end up randomly on audio files? Potentially whoever was sharing these files just ripped it high quality off YouTube and just did the rounds bundled up with the rest of the CD. I'd guess that any audio files are capped at 320kps. The 5:10 version with no intro is the official, real version.
  23. Critiquing their grammar no doubt.
  24. take away my pain, and paint my banisters blue.
