The average person is way dumber than we realize and that level of fame is extremely unrealistic. Ethel is a trans woman who makes concept albums about the daughter of a preacher who gets cannibilized I think she’s as famous as she will ever get and it’s a level of fame that allows her to do anything she wants so I don’t think even she wants more

tbf Ethel has already blown up big time. Within one year of her debut album (prior to which she was basically unknown) she went on tour with Florence Welch, Caroline Polacheck and Boygenius on top of basically becoming a model for Miu Miu. She’s already huge as far as I’m concerned considering how niche her music actually is. Chappell’s fame will obviously subsidize in the future like it did for ice spice

many more people (including me) recognize the decline in quality so where do we go from there… and I’m not equating her talent with Joe but their relationship definitely greatly benefitted Taylor’s artistry and inspired her in more ways than one. Then she left him and produced her worst Taylor’s versions (1989 and SN) and then come out with a very weak album (TTPD). If one plus one is two… fearless self titled and TTPD are all sonically and lyrically weaker. Rep is not as bad as people make it out to be IMHO and contains some pretty strong songs (New Years Day being one of them)

I am fully choosing to accept the idea that her music was so good from 2017 to 2020 because she was with Joe Alwyn. There has to be a reason for the extremely sharp decline in the quality of her visuals and lyricism after Joe (TTPD). Like that is crazy. Girl wrote False God for Joe and then So high school for Travis… embarrassing

out of tune means the notes do not follow standard 12-ET tuning and that is quite literally false. i played along to it on my piano and you can tell the notes are exactly the same. you must be seriously tone deaf (not an insult just an observation) to think otherwise. something being out of tune or not is not a matter of opinion but an objective reality. it's not up for debate or something that you "feel".

it's objectively not out of tune though... don't know what definition you're going by. and as for the repetitive... verse chorus and bridge have different chord progressions and melodies. it's as "repetitive" as every song whose verse is different from the chorus. it just seems like you don't like the song and are grasping at straws trying to justify it... you can just say its annoying and let it be that

the song is about being in a car “got my foot on the gas” “swerving on them” and the outro sounds like a car engine running/tires screeching. It’s obviously a stretch especially considering how old burn rubber is and how it probably wouldn’t fit sonically…

Katy Perry is the most offensive display of no artistic sensibilities we have seen in a very long time. Her bad taste is not clumsy but evil. Genuinely beyond me how anyone can listen to her music or even appreciate her artistry

Conspiracy theory but what if we don’t actually know the cover of the album? since the cover we have now is basically the reason why single cover, and all the other single covers are different, what if they gave the reason why single cover as a placeholder for the album and the cover is actually different? it would make sense IMO considering it showed up right around the time reason why was being released… IDK

she is rightly allowed to complain about anything but what i'm saying is it comes across as corny, at least to me. if every big singer who blew up spent their first year complaining about fans we literally wouldn't see the end of it. imagine ice spice spending 2023 complaining about fans, ethel cain spending 2022 complaining about her fans, olivia rodrigo spending 2021 complaining about her fans, dojo cat spending 2020 complaining, etc... the list goes on. its corny to me.

instead of using her very sudden influx of fans to start working on her next era like any sane human being and maybe release another single all she's done is be annoying complain and now she's just canceled two tour dates (paris and amsterdam) for "scheduling conflicts"...
