calling every girl you don’t agree with pick me is weird… like calling every gay man you don’t like twink. Having said that… this girl is very clearly clout chasing lol. Her music is giving very much indie sleaze early 10s target commercial. a far cry from Brat which is sonically and thematically very Charli IMO

dreaming about an actual froot anniversary edition... 12 standard tracks + INHA, WYTAC, saviour, true colours and FROOT demo = 17 tracks spread across a 2 disc gatefold vinyl. a poster. maybe she can release INHA as a single at the end of 2024 as the 10 year anniversary of her teasing the damn song lol. its never gonna happen but a girl can dream right..

Wdym look at the material outside of Pop 2? Are you suggesting it’s so much worse than Brat? … but regardless Pop 2 is still her magnum opus! Well yes
-
Im happy charli is getting recognition but all this noise for an album that’s not even top 3 of her discog is insane
-
It will make sense within the album IMO. This and berlin nightmare are not supposed to be listened to on the spot like that.. let’s keep in mind Sophie was a dj as well and she was playing shows. In a club context it fits much better (or in the context of the album)

Yeah bounce is too much of a stretch, but I can see Taxi being released… I mean it’s iconic for a reason. But still I heavily doubt it will happen
-
Burn Rubber feat charli xcx sounds fake to me because 1) it’s Sarah’s song 2) with all the amazing charli feats why have her do that? As much as I love it… taxi or WGFU? Bounce ? Like…. And also no sunscreen … idk but we’ll see!

Her label should’ve done the same thing they did with SZA when she was working on CTRL and just steal her hard drive and publish whatever was on it cause if this had been released in 2019 it would have made every single top 100 albums of the decade list and ushered in a new wave of pop music for real. Like it’s so fucking monumental
-
well yes, but the whole point of this release is to finalise SOPHIE's "creative vision" and direction, which I'm assuming would have involved some sort of album rollout (video, etc.). what's the point of trying to even recreate that if you're not gonna deliver on it? why even create buzz or hype in the first place and not just surprise drop it? i think her legacy should be celebrated and since her legacy is music the way to celebrate it would be playing it somewhere idk. not just have it on spotify so people who used to listen to the leaks on soundcloud can scrobble it on last.fm

what baffles me about a-listers like katy coming out with absolute pure dogshit is that they could hire a team of talented writers to come out with good music for them, but they choose not to. she could pull a beyonce and have a writing room of the most talented singers, songwriters and producers to come up with a decade-defining album, but chooses not to. she chose to release this god awful song. that's so evil to me. having the resources to do something good and still choosing not to. so fucking insane.

why aren't they trying to push it on tiktok or give it some sort of promo? especially considering since BRAT is all the rage now... like they can't get charli to lip sync to it once? they can't pay someone to make a dance? idk... this whole release feels so underwhelming and kinda random

I am so beyond happy that we are getting an official release of her work and that her legacy will be finally delivered out in the open for the world to see and appreciate. having said that... i do think the way they went about delivering the album is kinda iffy. if they wanted to go the standard "album" route i think they should've just given us transnation, so basically her raw, unedited creative vision. concept and everything. if they didn't wanna go the standard album route, they could've released a cycle of albums/discs that explored her creative output throughout the years with interviews by friends, peers, colleagues, etc... photographs, notes... a sort of more explicit testament to her work. this "SOPHIE" album looks like an in-between... something that can be marketed and consumed as an album, so explicitly accessible to everyone, but stripped of the creative vision/"album concept" that we know SOPHIE would've definitely shaped it with, so basically just a tracklist/mixtape of songs. and with them saying this is the last we'll ever hear from her... IDK. obviously this is a really hard and painful process so I'm not faulting anyone for it, but if this really is "it" it doesn't seem fair that her extreme talent, her vision, her influence, her reach, her impact on the music industry and queer community at large is reduced to a 16-track album.

I know nobody cares and we’re all busy with SOPHIE but some guy on Reddit just showed up claiming he has a whole bunch of old Marina demos including Not That Ugly (which he posted a snippet of) and basically the demo version of TFJ… plus die Life? Apparently. Considering how irrelevant Marina is I honestly believe him tbh plus the snippet he posted of Not That Ugly sounds real, but also I have been out of the loop for years so IDK how “new” this is. https://www.reddit.com/r/MarinaAndTheDiamonds/comments/1dn4ndi/new_leaks/

Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight on Spotify and Youtube?

I mean it has been up for 5 months, whereas Serial Killer was only up for like 4 days. I don't know why this wasn't taken down though -
Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight on Spotify and Youtube?

Ok so, I really hope this thread doesn't already exist, in which case I'm sorry and I hope a mod will merge it.. Anyhoo, I just came across this on Youtube: It's an automatically-generated page for MMITPM, which means it was "officially" released and then Youtube automatically put it up there. So... what's going on? https://open.spotify.com/track/22xZyUMKiPPYshak6ixabl?si=266927274f0942ae -
She never went full hyper pop, it was always a blend of hyperpop and other genres, and she probably won't ever go back to Pop 2
-
?? Did you mean to respond to another comment?? cause I know BTS and Hypocrates are about her father and fit EH i don't know what you're responding to (genuinely asking)
-
What's your Dedicated top 5? Been listening to it a lot and I'll Be Your Girl is definitely #1 for me. HUGE bop
-
Marina is the person, MARINA is the era, and even then, they do not fit thematically where Marina is at at all. Marina is very satisfied with her fame and she doesn't have issues with her father.
-
Thematically??? MARINA themes are the complete opposite of that. Miss Y is about being dissatisfied with where you are right now, and Scab & Plaster is about her dad, both of which are NOT themes of L+F or ADIAML. Have you actually listened to her music??? lol
-
This is not even a hot take it's just the truth. The melody is fine, but it makes no sense to turn that song into a dubstep track, like, 0 sense it's worth mentioning that Marina has never addressed it and it was always Charli the one who reassured us they were fine and interacted with her Even if there is no beef, Marina is still wrong for never mentioning Charli not even once

???????????????? IS THAT WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO MEAN
