Today I listened to all the 3 songs while driving and they’re all BANGERS the only problem IMO is they’re all really repetitive, the melody and the instrumental looks like it was copy pasted which is kinda meh :/

The problem with ex acts is that they almost never are able to detach themselves from their past careers, the only ex act who has actually transformed her image and become something unique is Ariana Olivia suffers the same fate, she has an extremely bland image and still doesn’t have an artistic soul of her own A pop rock album would’ve been a really good step towards acquiring a more personal image but she’s still young so who knows what she’ll do in the future

Ok I've been listening to the opening track, brutal, and it's really good I just wish she had played up more the aspect of the rebellious teenager and less all the cheesy love songs/breakup songs cause it could've been an interesting take on the whole being a teenage star

That’s because back then electro pop was the mainstream genre (Gaga, Britney, Riri, Madonna, Kesha, Christina, Katy to some extent, etc) Then in 2013/2014 the trend faded away and alternative pop became mainstream (Lana, Lorde, Halsey, Charli XCX, Melanie, Sky, etc) Now we don’t really have a mainstream genre of pop because we’re in a transitory stage

That's still true what I said, the majority of her songs (and yes you have to count Love+Fear in) are not metaphoric I would say 3/4 of TJF is metaphoric, 1/4 of FROOT and a 1/4 of EH which is still not the majority

I mean Marina's lyrics have never been particularly obscure or metaphoric, she's very upfront Even when she was doing more complex songs in the beginning, the lyrics have always been on the nose and pretty "bare" Even FROOT, which is highly allegorical, is still very clear what the metaphor is and she doesn't employ complex lyrics

i mean I skimmed through the album and it’s definitely decent, the songs are polished a and well produced, but there’s just something so uninspired about her... also her voice is incredibly generic and reminds me of a less talented birdy ugh I miss birdy

I mean i was speculating but June is literally around the corner I highly doubt it would be *this* close it would make sense for her to release it during summer like she did for melodrama tho, so a summer release is not that unlikely, but still June is a bit naive tbh
