6.6 is definitely low but it didn’t deserve anything higher than 7.5 this is bullshit but I genuinely believe she believes it just like Charli had a completely wrong idea of what songs had leaked and what songs hadn’t she probably does too… I do hope for a demo re-issue cause she has been talking about making one for years and it looks like it’s our best option

it wasn't live, at one point she changes dress halfway through the song which means it had to have been staged and the songs prerecorded..... but i mean with no live audience it was the best choice cause we got the best sound quality possible as opposed to the live quality which in the desert would've been kinda bad and pointless because there was no audience to sing to

i mean it doesn't deserve more, FROOT and TFJ deserved an 8.something and this a 7.2-3 but Pitchforks' rating are meaningless she should definitely re-record her early stuff but she'll never do it, there's not a chance in hell also i find it really interesting how she says she doesn't like to hear her old stuff cause past marina would've probably hated modern marina (especially love+fear)

the best concert set would've been: 10 - all the tracks from ADIAML since she's supposed to be promoting it 4 - one song from each past era 1 - Pink Convertible and MAYBE add INHA as a nod to the fans who want it released or something... but IDK

Happy worked perfectly as a piano ballad cause all the other tracks on FROOT were so different that it stood out wonderfully, but on ADIAML half of the songs are boring piano ballads and it's just boring to hear them back to back? as for the half of the album that's not ballads, it's really good, Venus Fly Trap is a career highlight overall there's really no musical growth from FROOT but at least it's better than L+F Charli did 20 songs when I saw her, the full Charli album + 4/5 songs, marina could've easily done that too and maybe sneak in pink convertible since she didn't have time constraints but whatever

I am so mad that the only song that had the potential to be amongst her career highlights, Venus Fly Trap, is literally not even 3 minutes long that song screams TFJ from every pore and that [misognystic slur] had the NERVE to cut it to 2 minutes? fuck right off marina

good writers/composers are good from a very young age, Fiona Apple wrote her first album at 16, Lorde too, etc... I doubt she’s gonna get much better with time than this

She doesn’t have the range to be Bjork, especially cause she’s not the musical genius in the family. She just has a nice voice and an incredibly charming image, which is what propelled her to fame As for Katy, she burned out big time with her last two albums, but Teenage Dream is a flawless pop album and she was THE moment and the biggest singer of her time So while yeah she didn’t last at least she made an impact when she could which is more than most people can say As for Billie these last two songs are incredibly boring and subpar on all levels (especially considering how smart musically was her debut EP) she really needs somebody to write for her cause she can’t write a sentence or melody to save her life

I don't think Lana has ever said anything about it, but she DEFINITELY listens to Mazzy Star or at least knows them cause they have a LOT in common they're incredibly reminiscent of Lana's dream pop california vibe IDK if that counts but IMHO she's definitely heard this song

she definitely has some issues i think ?? like i get that it's not all her fault but so many artists have had issues with their label and still managed to release shit (even azealia banks released a comeback single, although it didn't go anywhere, but still) if she truly wanted she would've found a way in the 8 years but clearly something is holding her back
