These slow songs are so boring.  I liked HBTB better but still not great.  It feels like she was written off with BTD, then UV gave her cred amongst critics, and the film people love her for soundtracks.  It just feels too many of these long cinematic slow songs -- which have their place -- but it's too much.  An album of this shit is going to be rough to listen fully through, just like UV kind of was.  Now she's going even more in that direction.  The production overall so far feels like it's trying to cling to UV a bit, seemingly to kowtow to critics, who also like the film stuff she does.  I just hope for something more upbeat even it's shrouded in this LanaReverb™ sound.

I can't believe this setlist.  If these three old-new ones make it on HM, it makes some sense, they all have a similar sound.  I'm surprised she didn't change any of them, especially YCBTB given how it was nearly a promo single for BTD.  I'm excited, three of my favorites, never would have thought they'd resurface.  The stage design is great.  Really knocks the UV tour stuff out of the water.

Most of these bands are pretty well-known in the indie scene.  A lot have been around for well over 10 years and are huge names (Spoon, New Pornographers, Modest Mouse, Jenny Lewis, Hot Chip, Decemberists, etc.)  You're really missing out if you haven't gave some of these artists a listen.   Father John Misty opened for Lana.  Robert Plant played in a little band called Led Zeppelin...

I think I only don't recognize 2 or 3 artists from the OP.  A lot of unknowns at the bottom of the poster though, but that's how festivals are.

Good.  I like BTD better and maybe we'll see some of those backcatalog tracks resurface.  There's a lot of unreleased stuff that feels very noirish.

I hope we get something a bit more poppy like BTD over Paradise.  I can appreciate Paradise and these recent soundtrack songs but I don't really listen to them much at all.

For my money "Surfs Up" and the original SMILE album is the greatest pop triumph ever.

I think I like the demo of Black Beauty better.  It's a great song and doesn't have her lyrical flubs that a lot of UV has.  The added tracks to the song seem okay, but I think it's more powerful without it.  Plus with Sad Girl, which uses the sudden return to the ending minor chord to great effect, it pales in comparison.

Barrie has recorded sessions with her, doesn't he?  I'm sure maybe he still plans to use the collaboration.  Maybe that's what he meant by not over.  Not really going out but not out of each others' lives completely.

I liked Barrie    This new guy is attractive but seems boring and generic really.

I don't have the pretense that I know LDR. What I know is from her interviews and I have formed an idea about her personality which could be wrong but this is mainly the consequence of her inability to have a coherent public discourse. I don't think that she's doing that on purpose to fuel her "mystique" rather she seems insecure about everything: her music, looks, public perception, her life and as a consequence she gets "confused" when opens her mouth.

About her relationship with fans I think that is more complex than "she's great with fans", because i have the feeling that those first row extravaganzas at every concert of hers are more about her (insecurities) than about the fans. Fans are also those in the back who don't see her for 15 min in a concert because she's taking selfies in the front row. She has garnered some touring experience and It's just ridiculous that the communication between her and the fans during the concert it's limited to some awkwardly uttered "you're amazing". She has powerful songs that could be introduced nicely connecting with the audience and the whole experience would be better. I get the fact that she's not a trained or natural performer and I like the fact that her shows lacks the usual gimmicks and theatrics but I have the feeling that she's investing to little in this meetings while her fans adore her.

I saw many of her concert videos and she does the same things over and over again, ritualistically: the same gestures when she sings Born To Die, she goes behind Blake when he is soloing, she comes down to the first row during National Anthem, smoking on stage etc. The only things that make her shows work are the powerful sing-along songs mostly from BTD, the fact that the fans adore her and in part because she is beautiful. Her interpretation on stage is mediocre at best and sometimes is outright weak with little emotional investment. She's "real" for the fans and "inauthentic" for her detractors for the same thing: her unpolished performances. But this is getting off topic

When her look compensates for everything else on stage, she's absolutely gorgeous, you can watch her even without the music:

Re-listened to all the snippers again and I realised that the beginning of Sad Girl reminds me of the verses of Trash Magic. Trash Magic is heavenly, so I can only imagine that Sad Girl must be heavier than heavenly

Just played it through and it exceed my expectations from the sound clip we got before.  Really interesting!  I like there's a quality to it that I can't tell if Lana is kind of also making fun of the Brooklyn "lifestyle".
