  1. Try to put TB first, and then WW! They flow beautifully together, and BB feels like the end of the story
  2. On Friday and Saturday, BB was shown as Lana’s newest single on Spotify, but today, Text Book is shown as such on her page! I wonder why they changed it
  3. It adds a lot to the song. It adds to the imagery, it makes it easier to imagine the scene, to put ourselves in her shoes, it makes it more lively. It also makes it more emotional; Lana wants us to be able to know how she felt in that moment. If the line had been “someone’s making birthday cake”, it wouldn’t have felt as powerful. Chuck is not just “someone”. She’s very dear to Lana, she’s one of the people she’s closest to. Same for “Jenny jumped into the pool / She was swimming with Nikki Lane”. It’s not just “My friend jumped into the pool / She was swimming with another girl”. She name drops them because they’re important people to her and they’re part of the scene. They are the people who help Lana with her mental health. So yes, technically, we don’t care about Chuck baking something, but describing a scene with such little details that may seem useless at first glance is actually an excellent songwriting technique that helps us understand how Lana heals. The smell of a cake, seeing friends having fun in the pool... these things make Lana happy. The whole song is about how she got better after experiencing something painful. Sometimes, the simplest of words have a way deeper meaning for the writer than you can imagine. edit: sorry for the change in size, idk why it happens
  4. The more I listen to the three new songs, the more I love them! They just get better with each listen... The way Lana sings « now my banisters are green and gray » in BB, or the « burn, burn burn » at the end of WW... How fragile and emotional she sounds in TB and the finesse of the production... Pure excellence I just wish the mixing was done better... I hope the tracks will be mixed again for the album, I hate how it sometimes feels like an element in the mix is too loud and it saturates... At first I even thought my earphones were broken :/ These three gems are way too excellent to be mixed so poorly
  5. Now if she really wants to use a selfie as the album cover, can she use this one? She looks gorgeous (this is my first time ever trying to upload an image so I don’t know if I’ve done it correctly, I hope so) https://imgur.com/tqFiVyo
  6. I have a theory, it might be a reach but I want to share it anyway. Her title tracks have always either been the first or the second songs on her albums. And I see her albums as pairs: UV is the follow up to BTD (the consequences of fame and how destructive it can be, while also being in a unhealthy relationship). BTD is track 1 and UV track 2. Then there’s LFL as the follow up to HM. HM is the idealisation of love, but again it didn’t work and LFL being her journey to go from the black to the blue and figuring out why she couldn’t put her life together in the past. HM is track 1, LFL track 2. And finally, there’s NFR, COTCC and BB. Unlike her other albums, I see these three as a trio. NFR is an insight of her daily life, daily thoughts, she started being really introspective with this album. NFR is track 1. Then she released COTCC, where she reveals more of her past and continues the introspection. COTCC is track 2, and the album is clearly a continuation of NFR. But here’s the thing: I think BB will be the continuation of the two previous album, being even more introspective and expressing even deeper things. If NFR is her daily life and COTCC more about her past and her relation to fame, BB will be a mixture of both. Which leads me to think that for once, she’ll break the pattern and BB will be track 3.
  7. It’s true that only BB was shown as a newest release, but still, TB only debuted with 25k less streams than BB so I don’t think it has to do with that BB: 271 703 TB: 246 285 WW: 169 635
  8. WW debuted with 100k less streams than BB and almost 80k less than TB on Spotify, that really surprises me. I thought it was the song fans loved the most among the three because it was produced by Mike Dean
  9. Great! I didn’t know an insider had already confirmed that the album was coming in less than 2 months. If it’s not on July 4th, it’ll probably be on July 9th, a Friday
  10. Yeah, Mike is probably an excellent hip hop/rap producer, but producing alternative LDR songs doesn’t seem to be what he excels at. WW is still amazing though! It’s a bowl of fresh air
  11. WW is such a beautiful song, but it’s so poorly mixed... I think you guys overhyped Mike, I mean, his production is really good but TB and BB are still superior, and his mixing is awful (but tbh none of the tracks have a good mixing) I still think these songs are some of the best she’s ever released, they’re hope’s little sisters, but with more production
  12. I wonder if the cop really painted her banisters blue and when they broke up, her girlfriends painted them green and gray
  13. I live for her fast little vibrato in BB and WW!! I’ve been wanting her to use it for so long, it’s so jazzy
  14. Yeah I don’t think it’s problematic either. From what I understood, she just wishes she could’ve screamed “BLM” with her father because it meant a lot to her
  15. These songs are gorgeous, but damn they’re sad Text Book is so West Coast!! And BB is heartbreaking, I wasn’t expecting that But is it just me or do the instrumentals feel drowned in reverb or something ??
  16. I’m feeling kinda nervous because I just realised I loved all the singles she released for NFR and Chemtrails, and then I loved all of the songs on these two albums too at my first listen. The last time I wasn’t a fan of something she released was during the LFL era with the title track... I don’t want to be disappointed with any of the three new songs, but I don’t have any expectations so I guess I’ll be fine
  17. Maybe the reason why she recorded so many albums in a short span of time is because she’s going to try to get pregnant and she didn’t want to leave us without any music while she would nurture her baby... She probably has enough material to keep us fed until 2023
  18. uh nah, tbh I wouldn’t call any piano song he did on 1989 or reputation groundbreaking But at the end of the day, it’s really about personal preferences, I’ve always been a sucker for piano tracks, especially when they sound raw, so it’s not surprising that I love what Lana did with Jack. However, putting personal preferences aside, I think we should all agree that Jack has more than one chord to his bow and that he’s a really talented musician and producer. It’s just trendy to hate him on LB
  19. He’s shown multiple times live that he could basically do whatever he wanted with the piano. But I’ll have to admit that the songs on Melodrama don’t really have any complex chord progression. However, the title track on NFR or even hope are amazing to me. It’s all about the little complexity and the details, the pace, the velocity. I doubt a hip hop producer can do better than Jack with the piano, but that’s not a shade at all
  20. You surely have never heard anything else he did with other artists if you think he’s not talented with the piano
  21. mhhh... let’s wait until we really hear what Mike did with Lana. I’m really excited to hear what he has to bring to the table, but I doubt Love song or Chemtrails would’ve been better if they were produced by him. He’s a hip hop producer first, let’s not forget about that. I don’t want to speak too soon but I doubt he’s as talented as Jack when it comes to piano and strings ballads like Love song or NFR
  22. Help, he literally acts just like gays who don’t realise being mean to everyone isn’t a personality trait and doesn’t make them more interesting (tbh he kinda gets on my nerves but a part of me loves how he shades everyone...)
