Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
Lirazel replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I can't wait, I want this record so much! I just hope that it won't sonically be Paradise edition: part two... this could be a problem for me. -
Please don't give them ideas... someone might seriously write this
-
I think that TIWMUG is a perfect ending. It ties the whole record in a cohesive narrative about sadness of following dangerous love. WY and LO don't feel integral at all - it's so obvious to me that they're just bonus songs.
-
Hmm... I didn't really like the way she looked in Tropico. If anything, Video Games/Born To Die/Blue Jeans/National Anthem Lana is my kind of Lana (and the one from the gif you used)... but mostly I just find her cute and adorable. Her daddy songs are wonderfully creepy...

I guessit I guess it's why I don't get the blog I don't really see Lana that way.
-
Do you mean the one about umbrella, Pontiac or 47 seconds?

I'm glad that the blog's owner stopped posting rather quickly... but I've been thinking forever what was the actual point of this. Was OP trying to share sexual fantasies about Lana or what? The fact that some people might think that those are real Lana quotes makes me cringe so hard. Worst LDR tumblr I've ever seen.

(Unpopular opinion because I don't think that most people seen this) I don't get this blog: http://confessionsbylanadelrey.tumblr.com is this supposed to be a roleplay blog or...? either way, I find those posts rather ewww.

Kinda misheard, kinda misread... I've read Go Go Dancer lyrics with mistake - instead of "Tupac's sweetheart" they went "Jukebox sweetheart". I've been wondering forever why is she pronouncing "jukebox" with a "ch" instead of "j"...

Yes! This movie has always been my favourite for it's darkness. "Hellfire" and "God Save The Outcast" rule. Those songs are insane. You know, I don't really like Bond movies (I've got a pretty feminist standpoint on them), but a few days ago I've been thinking that Lana would be perfect for the role....

I don't like Ridin', cause it irks me how ASAP Rocky calls Lana his bitch. I realize that she doesn't mind and it's just a song!!!11, but I find it really problematic from all point of views. I don't like when men demeaning their significant others is being presented as something good or even cool. Even if it wasn't the whole intent, that's what a lot of people are gonna get. It's one thing when women reclaim the word bitch, but no men should use. To me, it's as bad as if Lana was playfully calling Rocky the n-word...

Would Lana be as well-liked if she wasn’t attractive?
Lirazel replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
I think that Lana's pretty, but I don't find her beautiful without her make-up, clothes and big hair. I mean, when you see her normal photos taken at a street (like when she was walking with Barry in the Cobain-like clothes), she looks lovely... but not unlike your friend from university or something. Not unreal. The sad thing is - yes, I don't think that she would get so many fans if she didn't look so beautiful in the videos and shots. I know that huge part of her fanbase is rather shallow (at least where I live). They really overblow the "OMG, she's so hot!" angle. This is a prime example: I.. don't really get it, as I mentioned somewhere else. Myself, I don't care about her looks this much. Sure, I love how she looks in the Video Games videos (and all the BTD era, to be honest), but I don't find her all that interesting in Tropico... But it doesn't matter to me as long as she makes interesting music. -
LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
Lirazel replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
Does she mean that it's a sequel because it continues the narrative, or just because it's a second song which she truly loves? -
Little Lana things which you find funny or amusing
Lirazel replied to Lirazel's topic in Lana Thoughts
I agree with you about Go Go Dancer - and the part is amazing! I remember the meltdown about Lana being rich - it doesn't matter to me at all. Her music is amazing anyway. -
I used to love one of her songs when I was a child... I don't know the title, though. It was a single for sure, and chorus went something like "Everybody something something... How I wish I could be free... Oh yeaah, no no" or something like that. Might be wrong, since my English was awful back than and I haven't heard the song in ages

Yeah, you will quickly get used to the creepier elements And believe me, blasting the radio really helps - it has some cool oldschool tunes. One of the songs is quite hilarious - the one about a guy with a big iron on his hip, because the double entendre is bashed so hard into the listener's head It's impossible to get scared while you listen to it! I used to think that Fallout is kinda similar to Silent Hill when it comes to mood, but the radio has completely changed my mind... This quest has really surprised me and made me feel rather uncomfortable... Just like the treeguy in Fallout 3. That was also good.
-
Yeah, I've played both Fallout 3 and New Vegas! They're pretty creepy till you start listening to the built-in radio, lol. The creepiest thing in New Vegas is (spoiler, obviously) the quest with people that turn into plant-human hybrids...

Little Lana things which you find funny or amusing
Lirazel replied to Lirazel's topic in Lana Thoughts
I don't know, a lot of people see her as thrashy The non-fans, I mean. I'm not trying to say that this is supposed to be laugh-out loud funny... but I find it amusing. Doesn't mean that everybody should share my point of view. Maybe light-hearted is a better word? -
I really hope that there's no topic like this yet... Used search function and found nothing, so I suppose it's fair game. Despite Lana's reputation as that Hollywood sadcore chick with moody tunes, she's capable of more than just sad songs. Certain lines in her songs (wether it was intentional or not) never fail to make me chuckle. My prime example is Go Go Dancer. This song is extremely fun and joyful and has managed to persuade me to go to pole dance classes. This part always makes me wonder... is she so fast cause she's drunk, or do those guys exaggerate her pole dance skills due to their own drunkness? Whenever I listen to the song, I always find it funny how she replaces a certain word with "uh", especially since it sounds more like "uhhhhhh" On topic of another song - I love the demo of National Anthem with the guy's voice smugly proclaiming that but of course, he's gonna buy Lana lots of diamonds. It's such a shame that this little jewel didn't survive to the final version. I also find the entirety of Puppy Love rather amusing because of all the pop culture references and how she constantly sings that which makes me think that it's exactly what it is and she's in the self-denial part of being in love... which makes the song even sweeter, like a memory of first love from elementary school or something (I know that it's about high school love, but you get my point). I can never take Cola seriously, because it has always sounded to me like she was parodying herself, or rather what the popular opinion things about her - "that sadcore Lana with her erotic/thrashy (choose whichever you like) lyrics, drugs, Daddies, American flags and diamonds". I know that there's slim chance that she was going for parody, but I'm pretty sure that most people wouldn't get it even if she did. What I know for sure is that whenever I listen to the song, I imagine Lana rolling her eyeballs while singing it and laughing between the lines, like she has pulled the most amazing prank in the world... weird, I know. I'm probably gonna add more things to this list, but for now feel free to share your thoughts! Of course it doesn't have to be about lyrics (or even music), it's just what came to my mind.
