I feel like that's because we're in a world were we believe this sort of idea about sex to be dirty and unacceptable. But I think this is an exploration of Lana's personal sexuality. Of course it's harder for us to connect to it because it's not how we feel about sex. However this vein of sexual exploration has been constant through Lana's work and while I don't think it's there for shock value, I do believe it's just what turns her on. Lyrics are personal and we should remember she's not necessarily writing for us but for herself, even just as a cathartic measure.

She's released this album NOW when she has said it was meant to come out next year, but she couldn't wait a whole year because she was too excited and thought releasing it now as an EP instead of an LP in March 2013 would be a good idea. Not to mention the fact that it was never a planned re-release, it happened organically because she was writing so much these past few months.

If you don't like the sound of the album, fine, but to say it's crap because she "doesn't care" is total BS. She's shown nothing but complete interest and joy in this re-release, how anyone can get the feeling she doesn't care is beyond me.

Oh well. I guess if you don't like it, don't buy it, more for the rest of us

I know it was discussed more than a month ago but if you wouldn't mind I'd like to briefly touch on the un-feminist lyrics. As someone who's been in what I now realise were probably unhealthy relationships, albeit exhilarating, I really identify with a lot of what Lana's saying. But just briefly, I in no way mean to diminish or criticise your opinions by saying stuff like "you guys just don't know"; I don't know your lives or your struggles and I'm not prepared to make those judgements so this is merely my experience.

I can see how on the surface a what of her lyrical content seems to be against positive feminist ideals, but when I was in those relationships the power balance felt very natural and like feminism wasn't apart of anything. I was happy to let the men in my life lead me because they made me feel safe and there was a lot of love there. I knew how hard my heart beat for them and I could feel that in them too. For me, to love someone that much in a i-can-hardly-breathe-when-we're-not-together way made me feel so alive. I'm guilty of doing a lot of things I shouldn't have done with them but I was so free. So when they held me a little rough or something similar it didn't matter because it felt like we belonged. I can see why things like that from another perspective may have seemed off and like I was being controlled or smothered but that's not how it felt.

I was going to write a little more but I don't want to just bombard this thread with what is probably not interesting content.

i'd still be here because i love lana and because this forum is full of awesome, funny, intelligent people from all over who post not only about about miss del rey - sharing their found material/interviews/videos/photos/news and giving their honest opinions - but also discuss so many interesting topics and issues, and the views are so diverse and enlightening! and, of course, apart from the profound analysis and the critical thought, i appreciate the brilliant wit and the laughs also, in this generous community, you really can rely on the kindness of strangers!
regarding if the leaks stopped, of course i'd still be a fan - i mean, i love fiona apple so much, and we get an album from her every 6 or 7 years! but i don't know if i'd be such a huge fan if we didn't have AKA and so many of the unreleased songs, tbh - her wonderful & eclectic creative output is what made me adore her and realize what a special talent she is. BTD is a great album but it doesn't display all that she is capable of musically, lyrically and vocally. i do think that all of us in some way wanted more because why did we join LDR.FM in the first place? because they teased with gifs from the "million dollar man" video! no one can deny that lured us in. of course, i never would've thought i'd meet such great people on the forum, and that - along with the promise of lost lizzy songs and videos - is what kept me there, and now here. that's one thing, because all those old songs and videos were things lizzy once shared publicly, so even if it was for a short period of time, it was out there and there were people who liked the stuff enough to save it and keep it, and now share it with others who were not as fortunate to have known about her before. it's another thing to be getting all of these more recent recordings, which obviously she did not share and that, in my humble opinion, are not really as top-notch quality as the rest of her oeuvre. so, while my curiosity can't help but want to listen, i think it can be detrimental, in a way. the quanity-over-quality deluge kind of distorts the message she may have as an artist (though i respect her criteria, i don't know if it's completely kindred to mine - she said she wasn't happy with "yayo"! - which takes me back to wanting to hear her other, less-favorite creations, because i doubt her judgment, but ultimately, you gotta trust her instincts). it would be nice if we were still in the B-side times, where the not-quite-album material gems could be published also, people are animals of habit and always want more more more, regardless, so they'll never be satisfied. i think we all need some space, or a sort of void, to pause and be replenished and then go back, fresh, to appreciate the things (in this case, the music) we have. at some point it WILL stop, and the real fans, those of us who enjoy her and have been truly moved by her art, will remain ♥

It's a good question and one that i've asked myself before, not in regards to myself, but how it applies to others in general.

"Droughts" are more than okay. In fact, i often crave them. Life and other stuff, ya know?

I've never understood why people think this or any forum needs to be constantly active.

There are a lot of things i don't understand.

I sometimes wonder if some people are into LDR--by nature of her being a mainstream pop singer--more so as a result of being a consumer of pop culture, and so when someone/something else inevitably comes along, some people will move on.

I'm taking up a new posting approach in which i will obnoxiously separate thoughts into their own line like so.

Do any of you ever feel that there's an oversaturation of Lana Del Rey? Or is that just an inevitable feeling to have when coming to a forum of any artist?

I was thinking today how a forum is probably one of the most troubling things for an obsessive person to have in their life. It just fosters obsessive and habitual behavior.

I was also thinking earlier about fanaticism.

I desperately wish i didn't have this completist mentality with artists that i'm into.

I want to appreciate what we already have and spend time with the stuff, rather than constantly desiring more just to fulfill a curiosity/obsession.

Whenever i see mention of the word "leaks" i think of the Diva Cup™.

Mentions of holocaust and sluts in this thread.

That is all for now. Merry Christmas.
