I'm extra disappointed in my community as a Mexican male, how many of us went over to Trump like if he didn't run his 2016 campaign based off hate on Mexico is insane. I'm more at peace knowing my dad, brother, and myself voted for Kamala, but it's still so disheartening. I voted with my sister, my friends, my mother, my grandmother, everyone in mind. It shows how machismo is still very much a thing in our culture, and it's crazy that Mexico was able to have their first woman president before us.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that it's fucking TWENTY TWENTY-FOUR and we're STILL talking about possibilities of a national abortion ban, it's just surreal, it's one joke of a society we're living in...

even if harris wouldn't have technically been the best person for the situation in israel/palestine, trump is obviously going to be worse, they easily could've voted for harris, instead of wasting their vote for someone who cannot possibly win, at that point, they might as well have voted for trump

I’ve said it before the election, and I’ll say it again. If you voted 3rd party this election solely because of Israel and Palestine, you are extremely naive.

This totally freaks me out because I’m a meteorologist and I know many people who work for NOAA/NWS who are terrified about the prospects. I could see them slashing funding, but I doubt they’d totally dismantle it. This would cause mass chaos that would be far reaching. It would bring air traffic to a halt, for example. People may not realize how critical aviation meteorology is to keeping planes flying safe and efficiently. 
 
Republicans float the idea of dropping agencies like the EPA, Dept. of Education, etc., with no serious intent to follow through. I hope I’m not naive in this thinking…
 
But yes, I’m deeply troubled for our environment from the next administration.

While they won’t replace the income tax, you can totally envision Trump getting pissed off at Mexico or China and randomly dropping some massive tariffs. That will end up hurting the lower and middle class. 
 
I’m skeptical he will lower taxes much for the lower brackets and if he does, combined with massive spending like his first term (and things I’ll mention below), that’s going to have the potential to crash the economy. 
 
Here’s where I think he’s totally going to do some messed up shit. Trump is ego-driven and will want his legacy to be about what he did/does with the border. Plus he’s going to probably have the house, senate and Supreme Court majorities to push through almost any plan he wants. 
 
He’s going to explode the national debt and government spending. He did it before. He’s clueless about fiscal responsibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if they dump a TON of money into ICE.
 
Mixed bag here, but they’ll continue to try to chip away at reproductive rights. I think they’ll, unfortunately, be successful in many of the Deep South states.
 
It’s different now. The MAGA brand is a complete cult and watch more Republicans fall in line. With control of the house and senate, and potentially another few Supreme Court picks, I’m afraid that he’s going get a lot of wacko shit done. Remember, he has the backing of someone like Elon Musk with a lot of money and influence. 
 
I really hope his next term is ineffective, but I’m not counting on it 

Is this world even worth saving at this point? Like, I despise the fact that Trump’s politics will inevitably cause unprecedented damage and suffering of millions. I hate the fact people pick a president/a government/whatever who can determine if you can live freely as a woman, a person of colour, a person from the LGBTQ+ community. 
 
Everything is really fucking bleak and hopeless, and not just Trump being reelected everything in the world seems to always take a turn for the worse and despite our best efforts we can hardly do anything to change this…
 
How can we remain in solidarity and not fall into despair at this point? 

today i was walking downtown in my BALKAN city and i look up from my feet and see the american flag and trump’s face projected onto the presidential palace here… and people were celebrating this morning while i was going to class  yeah i’m not ready for this bs

Again, I don’t mean to sanitize, but just to give a bit of ray of sunshine here:
 
- Most of Trump’s policies will not be implemented. Tariffs are just a negotiating tactic, and we all know they will not actually replace income tax 
- On that note, just like 2016, the biggest Trump legacy will be his tax cuts. I see him further reducing income tax on the top 3 brackets by 5-10% and on the lowest 3 by 3-5%. 
- He’s not gonna do jack shit about the border, because his replacement will need the issue to run on in 4 years. 
- Mass deportations will not occur, namely because ICE is understaffed and the Trump deficit doesn’t give much room for more govt. spending. Also, the fact of the matter is that most illegal immigrants live in Blue States, and they won’t be helping Trump. 
- Gender affirming healthcare (and healthcare in general) will take the biggest hit 😭💔. It’ll now be a state issue, like abortion. 
- Abortion had a relatively decent night. The majority of Trump voters also voted to protect or expand abortion rights (except for Florida's “super majority” requirement) and Montana. 

 
Trump’s legacy thus far has been one of ineffectiveness. That trend will continue. It’s just uniquely horrible that he will be able to cement a 6-3 Supreme Court conservative lean, which will have long term effects, but not immediate quality of life implications yet. 
 
The media will prey on your outrage for clicks, do not let Trump take over your life. 
 
This is certainly a sad day for many, and I am not saying we are not allowed to grieve and mourn, but this is the path forward, and no amount of tears will change that. 
 
There was no justice last night, but there can be mercy, because we can give that to each other 🙃

I’m so disappointed in my generation. I didn’t wanna believe everything about Gen Z being more right leaning, but it’s true

If democracy means people like Turd can be in power, it really fucking sucks. I don’t want to be overdramatic, but a certain guy was also democratically elected in Germany once…

I'm gonna say it here and now --
 
If you're a hispanic voter in the US and voted for Trump, don't bitch or moan when he deports you. 
 
If you voted for Trump because of the economy, don't bitch and complain when gas prices and food prices are even more unstable.
 
If you're a woman who voted for Trump, don't complain when your husband beats you and there are no protections for you anymore. You chose that. 
 
If you're a gay person who voted Trump, don't be upset when you lose your job solely based on your sexual orientation because you CHOSE this. 
 
In the meantime, I might leave LB for a few weeks to better understand how to leave the US and quickly. I don't want to be here for a Trump presidency again. 
 
Oh and might I add -- if your daughter gets r*ped and is stuck giving birth to a baby she never wanted or planned to have or even gave her consent to conceive in the first place - pay her child support. You chose this for her. 

In 2026 it'll be the 250th anniversary of the US...I can't believe democracy as we know it will likely be gone after 250 years
I really don't know what to with myself today...I clocked into work but I can't focus. I'm so worried about the future, for myself and others, but if they actually remove the ACA I'm so worried for my family members who have pre-existing conditions that may no longer be able to get Healthcare because of that...my dad needs insulin to live and if the prices go back to what they were, idk how we'll be able to afford it every month
