  1. Not both bonus tracks being better, catchier AND more daring than most of the album lol
  2. Also this is not grunge?????? lol???????
  3. There is very little industrial influence. She leans into pseudo-Bowie-isms here and there. I hear Queen in Blades Of Grass. Very few hooks. I don’t remember hearing much (if any) dark pop, which is my favourite Gaga. The aesthetic presentation of the album is completely off the mark except for Disease, which sounds completely out of place sonically. I personally see little similarity to her other albums because of how basic it sounds (except for Joanne, which however basic at least was cohesive), and where it sounds interesting, well, it sounds like imitations of other artists as mentioned.
  4. Man, this was disappointing! Like, I don’t even have comprehensive criticism, it’s as simple as “meh”, which is wild because when Gaga is good, she’s the best in terms of dance pop songwriting, and when she’s bad, it’s at least camp. I literally can’t remember anything. Perfect Celebrity and Shadow Of A Man were enjoyable, I think.
  5. So like what rumours and/or tangible information do we have even if it’s subject to change?
  6. In Ireland in my studio just staring at the wall. My condolences
  7. At this point, an album being delayed and a release date being inaccurate is par for the course. This is being a Lana stan. This will probably happen again. Is it annoying? Sure. Would I do the same in her position? Probably not. But I’m not her, and she’s the one who has soundtracked my life without fail for over a decade with a steadily growing and reliably fabulous body of work. Until there is an official announcement with pre-orders and such, it’s best to not assume anything, even if our information comes from her.
  8. What I don’t understand about the singles being scheduled according the election result is this - we’ve known about the election and a potential Trump presidency for longer than we knew about the potential September release. Like regardless of the candidates, the US election was always going be on that date, so what changed lol
  9. I’m always happy waiting for new Lana. What I WILL say, is that she makes the wait seem longer by giving false dates. Let’s say it comes out March, that’s two years - not a long wait between albums at all, but by her own statement, it’s six months from when we were supposed to get it. It plays with people’s expectations - although, realistically, we should know her patterns by now - which in turn effects patience.
  10. Life’s gonna do what it do. Gorgeous summer ditty. A little mournful, a little happy. I recently started a diligent self-help routine, and this is a helpful little signal from the universe.
  11. I’m not sure Lana necessarily *wants* to be any more successful chart-wise, at least in terms of conventional singles. It may deliberately be being allowed to simmer and pass by less noticed.
  12. I actually love what I’m hearing. It’s hopeful and melancholic at the same time - like me!
  13. I trust her, and if it’s no good, hey, she’s allowed a less-than-stellar album at her rate of output.
  14. My top played album of the year. Kintsugi my number one song at 400 plays, followed by the title track at 334. Let that be a statement on how my year went lol
  15. Oh man, I saw her live supporting John Grant in 2018/19 and loved her, what a nice surprise!
  16. It must be “ribbons on ice” - as in “Pabst blue ribbon on ice” from BtD, interpolated into a more surrealist image as per the song’s image-laden lyrics
  17. her reverse warholian expedition incoming 😩
  18. ‘Brought by the sunlight Of the spirit to pour into me - There’s a name for it in Japanese: It’s kintsugi. They sang folk songs from the forties, Even the fourteen year-old knew Froggy-Came-a-courtin’ - How do my blood relatives Know all of these songs? I don’t know anyone left Who knows songs that I sing - That’s how the light gets in.’ Or alternatively ‘There we went, Screaming “Black Lives Matter” In the crowd on that Old Man River, And I saw you saw who I am - God I wish I was with my father, He could see us in all our splendour, All the things I couldn’t want for him.’ Both of these were mic drops for me - these impossibly run-on sentences that simultaneously lilted melodically.
  19. Yeah - like, I appreciate that she went through this period of creative experimentation and self-discovery, but listening to it feels like listening to her incubate, yet to hatch. This of course has its charm, and it’s inspiring as an artist myself to see “huh, yeah, some of my favourite artists really just be wandering around with no fanfare and yet to tap into their genius for ages”, but beyond that mythology… 🤷🏻‍♂️
  20. Been a fan from the beginning, and with the exception of Pawn Shop Blues, AKA has never quite clicked for me. I can love similar music, but from her, this specific set of songs doesn’t really do anything for me - wish it did, but I can’t pretend otherwise.
  21. Thinking of seeing her in Dublin - any estimates as to ticket prices?
