Why should they have to completely change the sound for the radio? no other artist that i know of does it

Uhhh...am I the only one who doesn't like this new version? It sounds too much like BtD Lana, what made the original version so good was the fact that it was so refreshingly different.

I prefer the original tempo change. It was different and original. Lame they had to change it conform to "radio standards"

I think I was on drugs or something, as of today we have 13 days.

All I can say is that they really fucked up by not releasing West Coast in the UK. Does anyone actually know why they did that???
She's got so many fans in the UK and the media/industry over here loves her - hence winning a BRIT and west coast being playing on BBC radio 1 first etc etc ???????? URGH

It is everything. I am not here for the Dan Auberbach mix. It sounds unfinished. This particular version sounds amazing to my ear, that second vocal that lays over the chorus.

New cover for West Coast now i've heard the song. My visualisation of the distorted vocals and guitar etc. also very fitting for the lyrics in the chorus being on the balcony

I actually think it's very radio friendly, just really unconventional! I'm glad it was rush released. Now I wonder what the May 18th date was for.

When you take "you got the music in you" in context it's quite gorgeous. As I said in the lyric thread, she is referencing her sobriety and people saying she's not having fun unless she's drinking but she has found "the music" in this guy that has made her feel alive again. Then she talks about people in the West Coast having their shallow, Hollywood icons (Queen of Saigon reference), but her guy simply has "the music." It's stunning.

okay yeah its one thing not to like it but to complain about other people liking it? thats just dumb....

Perfectly matches the stripped-down, atmospheric/psychedelic, 60s rock sound she described...couldn't be more perfect.
